More Hometown Bucks winners chosen

The fourth week of The DAILY LEADER’s Hometown Christmas Buckshas come and gone with ABLES and Betty Ann’s pulling winners fromthe hat.

Theresa Williams was the lucky winner from ABLES. She said theday she signed up for the sweepstakes was the first day that shestepped foot into the antique and gifts shop.

Williams said she started entering the sweepstakes maybe threeor four years ago.

“I was shocked,” she said. “I just never win anything.”

She also said she is going to spend it wisely and plans tostretch her $75 in Hometown Bucks as far as it will go whileChristmas shopping.

“I’ll probably spend it on my two grandbaby boys. I usuallyspend all my extra money on them,” Williams said.

She is a stay-at-home grandmother and helps raise her sonLaDale’s two boys, Jaxson and Madison Lee.

She thinks Hometown Bucks is a blessing because it helps peopleout during the holidays. Williams, 43, said she usually shopslocally.

The flow of Hometown Bucks continued when Stacy Leggett, 35, waschosen a winner. She entered the contest at Betty Ann’s.

“I was excited,” said the certified public accountant fromLowery & Lowery in Brookhaven about her winning the prize.

Leggett was not expecting to win because “I have never won,” shesaid.

She has been signing up for Hometown Christmas for almost 10years.

The somewhat of a local shopper appreciates the incentive behindthe sweepstakes – it being the chance of winning extra money tohelp rake in Christmas presents before the holiday. Leggett saidshe plans to put her money toward presents.

“(I’ve) got a big list,” Leggett said.

There are 21 businesses participating in the sweepstakesincluding Sisters by Design, Legacy Toyota, Bebe’s, Macy Taylor,The UPS Store, Growin’ Green, The Finishing Touch, Vendor’sEmporium, Snap Fitness, Blue Heaven, Smith Jewelry, BrookhavenHonda, J Jams, Ables, Bank of Brookhaven, Furniture Factory Outlet,Gad’s Jewelry and Salon, Betty Ann’s, T.H. Perkins Furniture Co.,Trustmark National Bank, Bertha’s Flowers and LegacyDodge-Chrysler-Jeep.

The DAILY LEADER employees and their families are not eligibleto enter. Participants must also be 18 years of age or older toregister.

Chances to register end Dec. 16.
