Norma Rae Smith Isdale

Norma Rae Smith Isdale, 77, died Dec. 17, 2008, at herresidence.

She was born Oct. 27, 1931, in Brookhaven. She was a talentedseamstress. Her childhood years were spent in Brookhaven. She hadbeen a longtime resident of Kingsville, Texas, prior to moving toWestlake, La., where she and her husband made their home for thepast 28 years. She was a member of First Baptist Church inWestlake.

Survivors include her husband, C.G. “Glynn” Isdale; her threedaughters, Col. Betty McCoy, retired reserve, and spouse, Col. MikeMcCoy, retired, of Lansing, Kan., Lt. Col. Bennie Katilus, retiredreserve, and spouse, Major Joe Katilus, retired, of Stockton,Calif., and Glenda Faye Brown and spouse, Sam Brown, of Riviera,Texas; her five grandchildren, Courtney Mrazek and her husband,Cody, Colleen Ley and husband, Daniel, Samantha Katilus, TracyMcCoy and James Michael McCoy; her two great-grandchildren, ChayseMrazek and Witton Ley; a sister-in-law, Barbara Bankens, ofWestlake; her two brothers-in-law, Charles Isdale, of CollegeStation, Texas, and William Isdale and wife, Shelby, of Baytown,Texas.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Bennie J. and WessieMae Smith, of Brookhaven; her father-in-law and mother-in-law,Vester E. and Katherine Isdale, of DeQuincy, La.; a brother-in-law,Johnnie M. Bankens Jr., of Westlake, La., and a sister-in-law, Dr.Lucille Brown Isdale, of College Station.

Her funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 20, at Hixson-SniderFuneral Home in DeQuincy, La. The Rev. Rodney Glynn Bankens willofficiate services. Burial will be in Perkins Cemetery under thedirection of Hixson-Snider Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 5until 8 p.m. Friday evening.
