Betty Jean ‘Betty J’ Dillon

Services for Betty Jean “Betty J” Dillon, of Brookhaven, are 11a.m. Monday, Dec. 22, at Macedonia M.B. Church in Brookhaven withburial in Greenwood M.B. Church Cemetery in Bogue Chitto. WilliamsMortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation is Sunday from 6 until 8 p.m. at Greenwood M.B.Church in Bogue Chitto.

Miss Dillon, 64, died Dec. 16, 2008, at Hardy Wilson MemorialHospital in Hazlehurst. She was born in Lincoln County on Jan. 24,1944, to Felo Dillon and Viola Washington Dillon.

Preceding her in death were her parents.

Survivors are a son, Corey Oshikoya, of Parker, Colo.; hersisters, Annie D. Tillman, JoAnn Robinson and husband, Alex,Charlestine Waterman and husband, Nathaniel, Maxine Dillon andhusband, Donnie Ray, all of Brookhaven, and Patricia Dillon, ofDenver, Colo.; and a brother, Levi Dillon and wife, Mary, ofBrookhaven.

Peggie Jean Peavey Griffin

Services for Peggie Jean Peavey Griffin, of DeRidder, La., are 2p.m. Saturday, Dec. 20, at Riverwood Family Funeral Service Chapelwith burial in Easthaven Cemetery.

Visitation is Saturday from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the funeralhome.

Mrs. Griffin, 75, died Dec. 16, 2008, at Lake Charles MemorialHospital in Lake Charles, La. She was born in Brookhaven on Oct.27, 1933, to Freeman E. Peavey and Lou Annie Tarver Peavey.

She was a welding instructor and ship builder.

Preceding her in death were her parents.

Survivors are her husband, L.B. Griffin, of DeRidder; her sons,Robert McBride and wife, Debbie, of Franklin, Tenn., James McBrideand wife, Pinet, of Houston, Texas, and John McBride and wife,Stephanie, of Deville, La.; a daughter, Linda McBride, of FortLauderdale, Fla.; her brothers, Danny Peavey and wife, Joan, ofCameron, N.C., Billy Peavey and wife, Virginia, and David Peaveyand wife, Judy, all of Brookhaven; her 16 grandchildren; her fivegreat-grandchildren; and a stepson, John Griffin, of Monroe,La.

Norma Rae Smith Isdale

Norma Rae Smith Isdale, 77, died Dec. 17, 2008, at herresidence.

She was born Oct. 27, 1931, in Brookhaven. She was a talentedseamstress. Her childhood years were spent in Brookhaven. She hadbeen a longtime resident of Kingsville, Texas, prior to moving toWestlake, La., where she and her husband made their home for thepast 28 years. She was a member of First Baptist Church inWestlake.

Survivors include her husband, C.G. “Glynn” Isdale; her threedaughters, Col. Betty McCoy, retired reserve, and spouse, Col. MikeMcCoy, retired, of Lansing, Kan., Lt. Col. Bennie Katilus, retiredreserve, and spouse, Major Joe Katilus, retired, of Stockton,Calif., and Glenda Faye Brown and spouse, Sam Brown, of Riviera,Texas; her five grandchildren, Courtney Mrazek and her husband,Cody, Colleen Ley and husband, Daniel, Samantha Katilus, TracyMcCoy and James Michael McCoy; her two great-grandchildren, ChayseMrazek and Witton Ley; a sister-in-law, Barbara Bankens, ofWestlake; her two brothers-in-law, Charles Isdale, of CollegeStation, Texas, and William Isdale and wife, Shelby, of Baytown,Texas.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Bennie J. and WessieMae Smith, of Brookhaven; her father-in-law and mother-in-law,Vester E. and Katherine Isdale, of DeQuincy, La.; a brother-in-law,Johnnie M. Bankens Jr., of Westlake, La., and a sister-in-law, Dr.Lucille Brown Isdale, of College Station.

Her funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 20, at Hixson-SniderFuneral Home in DeQuincy, La. The Rev. Rodney Glynn Bankens willofficiate services. Burial will be in Perkins Cemetery under thedirection of Hixson-Snider Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 5until 8 p.m. Friday evening.
