Emma Mae Ott Lampton

Emma Mae Ott Lampton, 95, passed away peacefully at home Dec.27, 2008. She was born July 17, 1913, and was a lifelong residentof Osyka until, due to declining health, she moved to Brookhaven tolive with her son and his family. She was the daughter of Walter D.Ott and Mae Cutrer Ott and a graduate of Mississippi College forWomen. She initially taught school in Drew and Magnolia. For manyyears and up until her retirement, she taught second grade at OsykaElementary School and was affectionately known as “Miss Apple.” Shewas an active member of Osyka Baptist Church until her health beganto fail.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, PercyFord Lampton; her six brothers, Eugene Ott, Clark Ott, Reggie Ott,William Dunnica Ott, Walter Wesley Ott and Wiltz Ott; and her threesisters, Rowena Ott McFalls, Mamie Ott Hunt and Margaret OttToelke.
She is survived by her two sons and daughters-in-law, DudleyFord and Sally Lampton, of Brookhaven, and Dunnica Ott and SuzanneLampton, of Jackson; her four grandchildren, William DunnicaLampton and wife, Meredith of Zachary, La., Sidney Elaine Lampton,of Jackson, and Margaret Alice Lampton and Dudley Ford Lampton Jr.,both of Brookhaven; a great-granddaughter, Sara Lucille Lampton, ofZachary; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation is Tuesday, Dec. 30, at Osyka Baptist Church from 1p.m. until services at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Milton Klieschofficiating. Burial will be in Osyka Cemetery with Hartman-SharkeyFuneral Home in McComb in charge.
