Herman Calvin Butler

Services for Herman Calvin Butler, of Longivew, Texas, are 2p.m. Sunday, Jan. 4, at Cox Funeral Home in Oak Grove, La. Therewill also be a memorial service at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 6, atWinterfield United Methodist Church in Longview.

Mr. Butler, 94, died on Jan. 1, 2009, in Longview. He was bornin Oak Grove on Jan. 1, 1915.

He attended school in Oak Grove. In the 1930s and 1940s, heworked in the oil field and for the Santa Fe Railroad. He retiredfrom National Tank Co. on Jan. 1, 1980.

He married Omah Spillyard on Jan. 1, 1932, in Forest, La. Duringtheir marriage, they lived in Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana andMississippi. They were residents of Brookhaven from 1951 until 1980and were members of First Baptist Church and Brookhaven CountryClub.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife and mother ofhis children, Omah Butler; his second wife, Helen Butler; his sons,Tom and Herbie; four brothers; and four sisters.

Survivors are his sons and daughters-in-law, Gerald and BeckyButler, of Longview, James and Harriet Butler, of Greer, S.C., andElizabeth Butler, of Monroe, La.; nine grandchildren; ninegreat-grandchildren; and his brother and sister-in-law, John andElsie Butler, of Jasper, Texas.

The family requests that memorials be made to Beacon Hospice,Box 5908, Longview, TX 75608.

Flossie Mae Harris

Services for Flossie Mae Harris, of Meadville, are 10 a.m.Sunday, Jan. 4, at New Bethel M.B. Church in Franklin County withburial in the church cemetery. Marshall Funeral Home is in chargeof arrangements.

Visitation is Sunday from 9 a.m. until the time of the serviceat the church.

Mrs. Harris, 88, died Dec. 31, 2008, at her residence. She wasborn in Franklin County on April 12, 1920, to Ed and Eddie MaeTaylor Adams.

She was a member of the Mother Board at New Bethel M.B.Church.

Preceding her in death were her husband, W. S. Harris; herparents; her sisters, Corine Bosley and Oma Anderson; and herbrothers, Howard Adams and Lindsay Adams.

Survivors are her niece; her great-niece; three great-nephews;and many other relatives.

Wilson ‘Hicks’ Hickenbottom

Services for Wilson “Hicks” Hickenbottom, of Bude, are 2 p.m.Sunday, Jan. 4, at New Bethel M.B. Church in Franklin County withburial in the church cemetery. Marshall Funeral Home is in chargeof arrangements.

Visitation is Sunday from 1 p.m. until the time of the serviceat the church.

Mr. Hickenbottom, 79, died Dec. 31, 2008, at Franklin MemorialHospital. He was born in Franklin County on Sept. 3, 1929, toWilson Hickenbottom Sr. and Anna Whitney Hickenbottom.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his sisters, MargieCameron and Mary Johnson; and his brothers, Willie Fleming andBates Fleming.

Survivors are his wife, Bertha Mae Hickenbottom; eightdaughters; four sons; one sister; and many nieces and nephews.
