Ruby Jean Guess
Graveside services for Ruby Jean Guess, of Brookhaven, are 2p.m. Friday, Jan. 16, at Jackson Cemetery in Flora. Memorialservices are 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 17, at the KingsboroughCommunity Center in Brookhaven. Riverwood Family Funeral Service isin charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Guess, 47, died Jan. 14, 2009, at her residence. She wasborn on Sept. 9, 1961, to Billy Q. Harrell and Ruthie Jean HammackAllen.
Preceding her in death was her father.
Survivors are her mother; her sons, James Bradley Vaccaro andJoshua Mical Vaccaro, both of Houston, Texas; a brother, RonaldConrad, of Flowood; her sisters, Teresa Milaer, of Biloxi, andRenee Weeks, of Brandon.
Sam V. Smith
Services for Sam V. Smith, of Wesson, are 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan.17, at Hillcrest Church of Christ in Brookhaven with burial in thechurch cemetery.
Visitation is Friday from 5 until 9 p.m. at Riverwood FamilyFuneral Service and Saturday from 1 until 2 p.m. at the church.
Mr. Smith, 96, died Jan. 15, 2009, at Hardy Wilson MemorialHospital in Hazlehurst. He was born on March 9, 1912, to JonceSmith and Mary McGee Smith.
He was a member of Hillcrest Church of Christ, where he helpedto build and serve as a church leader. He was ordained as an elderin 1981 and served until his early 90s when his health began tofail. He was a carpenter by trade, but a servant in life in God’sKingdom.
Preceding him in death were his parents; a daughter, Janet Furr;his brothers, Claude B. Smith, Clyde Smith, Percy Smith, ClarkSmith and Thomas Smith; and his sisters, Hallie Lea, Estella Hardinand Ina McCoy.
Survivors are his wife, Irma Lofton Smith; a daughter, MaryPannell and husband, James, of Brookhaven; a brother, Denver Smith,of Brookhaven; a son-in-law, Mike Furr, of Wesson; his fourgrandchildren, Todd Furr and wife, Tiffany, Kelly Stewart andhusband, Brandon, Rusty Pannell and wife, Kara, and Alice King andhusband, Jason, all of Brookhaven; and his ninegreat-grandchildren.
