County officials search for missing truck driver

Family members and Lincoln County officials are searching for alocal man who has not returned home after dropping off a truckloadof cargo in Texas.
Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department Chief Deputy Johnny Hallsaid Ollie B. Magee, 58, of 2148 Pipeline Road in Sontag, was lastseen Friday in Carthage, Texas, driving a red 1998 Peterbilt truckpulling a flatbed trailer. The truck bore the logo, “S&SDragline.”
He said Magee had dropped off a load between 4 and 5 p.m. Fridayand was supposed to be on his way back home.
“The last person he spoke to was someone in California,” Hallsaid. “And when she talked to him he was alright.”
His daughter, Geneva Griffin, said Magee had things scheduled tobe done on Saturday after his return home, as well as another truckrun he was supposed to make Monday.
“And when he books up a load he picks it up,” she said.
Griffin said she had looked at maps and called all the hospitalsshe could find online between Brookhaven and Carthage, as well ascalling the truck stop in Texas where she believed her father mighthave stopped last.
“They said neither he nor his truck was there,” she said, addingthat one possible route he could have taken was through Shreveport,La. “He’d hauled up there before, but I don’t know which way he’dusually take.”
