‘Dogs sweep Enterprise

The Hinds AHS Bulldogs swept a pair of Division 6-2A varsitybasketball games from the host Enterprise Yellow Jackets Tuesdaynight. It was Senior Night at Enterprise.
Audrika Webster pumped in a game-high 19 points in leading theLady Bulldogs to a 59-55 comeback win over the Lady Jackets. In theboys contest, Derek Burks and Keeslee Stewart fired in 23 pointsapiece as Hinds AHS rolled to an 84-57 victory.
Enterprise seniors recognized were Tara Paden, Jamie Smith,Jeremy Smith, Ky Burke and Cameron Thomas.
Friday night, Enterprise meets Dexter at Salem. The juniorvarsity boys play at 5 p.m. followed by the varsity girls at 6 andthe boys at 7:30.
Enterprise will host the Division 6-2A Tournament next week,starting Feb. 9.
Hinds 59, Enterprise 55
“We’ve got to make our free throws at the end,” said Enterprisegirls coach Jill Nations. “My girls played really well and hard. Weshot the ball well in the first half.”
Enterprise, working for an upset, led 28-22 at halftime and43-38 entering the final frame.
The Lady Jackets (8-18, 4-8) were led by Paden with 15 points.Anna Beth Caves netted 11 points and pulled down 7 rebounds. LaceyOrr finished with a double-double, 10 points and 11 rebounds.
“Enterprise gave a good effort,” said Hinds AHS coach BruceBaker. “We stepped up in the fourth quarter. My girls played hadand stuck in there to win.”
The Hinds AHS girls improved to 8-4 in the division and 16-7 onthe season.
Hinds 84, Enterprise 57
“We got outhustled early,” said Enterprise first-year boys coachJohn Knight. “We’ve got to play your best against Hinds. Theyplayed a good game.”
The Jackets (10-16, 3-9) were powered by guard Jamie Smith’s 17points. Kevin Perry fired in 16 points and grabbed 6 rebounds.Russell Perry netted 10 points.
“We played OK tonight,” said Hinds AHS boys coach KeithWilliams. “We just wanted to get a feel for the gym for thedistrict tourney. Enterprise is well coached. And he will have histeam bounce back by the tourney.”
The Bulldogs (22-2, 11-1) got added support from Erik Burks with19 points.
Junior varsity boys
Hinds AHS clipped Enterprise 49-34. Leading the Jackets with 14points each were Nathan Foster and Thomas Allen.
LeDarrion Robinson paced the Bulldogs with 12 points.
