Services for Lester R. Miller, of Glen Cove, N.Y., wereSaturday, Feb. 7, at Bethel A.M.E. Church in Brookhaven with burialin Rosehill Cemetery. Byas Mortuary was in charge ofarrangements.

Mr. Miller, 80, died Jan. 31, 2009, in Glen Cove.

He was an accountant. He retired from the Konica Corporation andserved as president of the Glen Cove NAACP branch for almost twodecades. He was also a Fair Housing Board member and was affiliatedwith Veterans of Foreign Wars, Alpha Kappa Phi, Kiwanis Club,African American Coalition of Glen Cove and the AmericanLegion.

Survivors are his sons, Lester Charles Handy, of Anaheim,Calif., and Montenez Miller, of Ridgeland; his daughters, CynthiaMiller, of Slidell, Stephanie Parrish, of Hazlehurst, and MoniqueAndrews, of Aceworth, Ga.; his sister, Saretha Wilson, of Chicago,Ill.; four grandsons; six granddaughters; two great-granddaughters;and one great-grandson.
