Ruby Smith Boggan

Ruby Smith Boggan, of Meadville, died peacefully on Feb. 7,2009, at age 96. She was born Oct. 28, 1912, in Scott County to thelate Jim and Tinie Hawkins Smith.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, 
William E.Boggan; and four brothers; Earl, Cliff, Troy and Dorsey Smith.

“Mrs. Boggan”, as she was affectionately known throughoutFranklin County, was a schoolteacher for nearly 50 years. Shetouched the lives of thousands of children and taught severalgenerations of many families. She was a very special lady. She madeeach of her students feel special in her love and gentle attentiontoward each of them. In addition to being a caring teacher anddevoted servant of God, she was a loving wife, mother, sister,grandmother, and great-grandmother whose spirit of strength andsupport will be greatly missed. Mrs. Boggan is survived by her twochildren, Laura Ann Boggan Tyson, of Bude, and William Joe Boggan,of Idaho; a brother, Billy Ray Smith, of Clinton; her fourgrandchildren, Ann Tyson Speyer, of Virginia, Jodi Boggan Rush, ofTexas, Barry Tyson, of Meadville, and Shannon Boggan, of Maryland;nine great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, relativesand friends, including her close friend of 65 years, LorenaDean.

A viewing will be held from 4 until 6 p.m., on Tuesday, Feb. 10,2009, at First Baptist Church in Bude. Funeral services will beheld immediately following the viewing at 7 p.m. Graveside serviceswill be held at Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery near Mendenhallat 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 11.

Franklin Funeral Home in Meadville is in charge of theservices.
