Margaret “Margie” Faia Panquerne went home to be with her Lordand Redeemer, Jesus Christ, on Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2009. She was bornin New Orleans, La., on Nov. 2, 1920.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Frederick and AnnaTedesco Faia; her husband, Paul Joseph Panquerne; her sisters, MaeFaia Jourdan and Frances Faia Faustermann; her brother, Joe Faia;and her grandson, Sage Panquerne.

She is survived by her four children, Donald Paul Panquerne, ofNew Orleans, Karen P. Tramuta and her husband, Rick, of HiltonHead, S.C., Margaret P. Barbera and her husband, the Rev. Michael,of Long Beach, and Paul Joseph Panquerne Jr. and his wife, Kym, ofFt. Worth, Texas. She is also survived by her grandchildren, JoshuaPanquerne, Jesse A. Tramuta and his wife, January, Michael-AnneTramuta Land and her husband, Jeffrey, Melody Barbera Yarboroughand her husband, Andrew, Michael Barbera, Paul Chandler Panquerneand Zsanae Panquerne; her great-grandchildren, Ethan O’Neal Landand Ella Grace Land; and her brother, Fred Faia, of Chicago,Ill.

In 1973, at age 52, she moved to Wesson and served for 25 yearsas a dormitory hostess at Copiah-Lincoln Community College. She was”Mom,” counselor, friend and mentor, introducing many to Christ.She retired in 1998 and moved to the Mississippi Gulf Coast.

“Margie,” as known by her family and closest friends, had anopen heart and home that was an expression of the compassion and anextension of her love for Christ. She was an encourager, a woman ofprayer and faith and a confidant to many. Her highest purpose inlife was to know Christ and to make Him known and her mission fieldwas wherever the Lord planted her and with whomever she hadcontact. Her legacy of love and evangelism endures through thelives she touched. She has fought the good fight, has finished herrace well, has kept the faith and now lays hold of the prize thatwas set before her. She will be greatly missed.

A visitation with her family in celebration of her life will beheld on Friday, Feb. 13, 2009, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at TheChurch of the Good Shepherd on Espy Avenue in Pass Christian. Thefuneral service will be held at 1 p.m. Burial will follow at LongBeach City Cemetery.

Riemann Family Funeral Home at 19130 Commission Road in LongBeach is in charge of arrangements.
