WESSON – On a damp Saturday afternoon at Sullivan Field, theCo-Lin Wolves swept a baseball doubleheader from the CoahomaCommunity College Tigers. The Wolfpack won the opener 3-2 in 9innings and prevailed 4-2 in the nightcap.

Co-Lin (3-1) hosts Southeastern Iowa and Rend Lake, Ill. Fridayfor a tripleheader. On Saturday, the Wolves visit Eunice, La. tomeet LSU-Eunice and St. Charles for 3 games.

Co-Lin 3, Coahoma 2

With the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth, pinch-hitterRyne Tutor’s sacrifice bunt scored Cameron Logan from third base towin the game. Logan got to first base on a Coahoma error, BennettWilson’s slash/bunt put him on first and sent Logan to second.Coahoma pitcher Jeffrey Johnson walked Jared Rogers to load thebases with two outs.

“All wins are good,” said Co-Lin head baseball coach Keith Case.”Defensively we played real good. But we left too many runners(nine) on base.”

Co-Lin jumped on Coahoma 2-0 in the first inning. The Tigersscored a pair of runs in the top of the third to tie the game at2-all until the bottom of the ninth.

The winning pitcher was reliever Brandon Jones (1-0) whorelieved starter Christian Malbrough in the seventh inning. Jonesworked 3 innings with 2 strikeouts, no walks, no hits and no runsallowed. Malbrough, in the first 6 innings, allowed 4 hits, 2 runs,struck out 6 batters and walked 1.

The losing hurler was reliever Jeffrey Johnson who worked thefinal 3.3 innings with 1 strikeout, 1 walk, 1 run and 2 hitsallowed.

Powering the Wolves with a single were Mason Warren, JeffDeBlieux, Joseph Evans Jared Rogers and Ryan Tutor.

The Tigers got a double and single from Terrell Jones. Hittingsafely were Davarian Ursin, Brandon Woodland and Ricky Toles.

Co-Lin 4, Coahoma 2

The Tigers (1-3) threatened with 2 runners on base and 1 out inthe top of the seventh. Relief pitcher Brock Campbell picked offCayne Boykin at second base for the second out. Brandon Woodlandwas hit by a pitch, took first base and then stole second on athrowing error. Campbell picked him off at second to end thegame.

“Our guys pitched well,” stated Case. “We played good defense.We still left seven runners stranded. We have to find ourselvesoffensively.”

Blackwell (1-0) worked the first 5 innings with 5 strikeouts, 3hit batters, 2 walks and 4 hits allowed for the win. Campbell, whogot the save, allowed 1 hits, no runs, no walks, struck out 2 andhit 1 batter.

The losing hurler was Sean Stockman (1-1) with 4 runs allowed in5 hits, 5 strikeouts, 6 walks and 1 hit batter. Reliever LacyJackson fanned 2 batters and hit 1 batter in 2 innings.

Rogers doubled to lead the Wolves at the plate. Luke Brumfield,Jonathan Grace, Wilson and Tutor singled.

The Tigers got a double and a single from Cayne Boykin. Doublingwas Jones. Ricky Luckett and Steven Graves hit safely.
