Loyd Star shuts out McLaurin

FLORENCE – Korey Allen pitched a 2-hit shutout and Travis Keenesmashed a home run in leading the Loyd Star Hornets to a 7-0Tuesday night victory against the McLaurin Tigers in Division 6-2Abaseball action. Allen (1-1) fanned 6 batters and walked 1.

Loyd Star (4-3, 1-0) host McLaurin Friday, starting at 6:30.

“We played a good game tonight,” said Loyd Star coach JohnathanBreakfield. “Korey threw strikes and our defense played well. Wehit the ball.”

The Hornets took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first and battledthe Tigers through 2 scoreless innings. They played 3 runs in thefourth.

Leebo Bairfield, T.J. Floyd and J.J. Jones doubled and singledin the victory. Keene had 2 hits.

Jesse Shows (7 K, 2 BB) started on the mound and took the loss.He was replaced by Cody Roberts (2 K, 0 BB).

Two hits by Brian Sanchagin accounted for McLaurin’soffense.
