BA trips Columbia

Junior right-hander Tripp Jolly fanned 6 batters and walked 4 infive innings Tuesday night to lead Brookhaven Academy in a 7-2District 4-AA win against Columbia Academy in a battle of Cougarteams.

BA, coached by Stephen Cooksey, improved to 5-2 with the win andis 1-0 in district play.

“Tripp struggled and found himself in the third inning,” saidCooksey. “Jolly threw 85 pitches. He was able to come out and do agood job.

“I thought our pitching coach, Robert Young, called a goodgame,” continued Cooksey. “I was real pleased with the effort hehas done for us.”

Relieving Jolly in the sixth inning was Tyler Parvin with 3strikeouts and 2 walks.

R.J. Thomas absorbed the loss.

Powering BA with a single were Bubba Keene, Jeremy Foster,Parvin, Scottie Peavey, Dan Coleman and Brent Henderson. Logan Pacehad 2 RBIs.

Jeremy Lee directed Columbia with a double and a pair ofsingles. Ryan Morris singled twice. Doubling was Thomas. MilesBodie and Nick Sanders hit safely.

BA travels to Columbia Thursday for 2 games.
