Enterprise’s Ryan Kennedy said he is looking forward to wearingthe Copiah-Lincoln Community College blue and white baseballuniform. The lanky left-handed pitcher made it official when hesigned scholarship papers with Co-Lin.

“I’m glad Co-Lin took me,” said Kennedy. “I’m looking forward topitching for them.”

Kennedy, a versatile 6-foot-3, 165-pound athlete, has compiled a2-1 record this season for the Yellow Jackets. He throwsleft-handed but bats right-handed and has a .272 battingaverage.

Asked about a career choice, Kennedy said he was undecided butwas leaning toward teaching and coaching. His favorite high schoolcourse is psychology.

Enterprise first-year head coach Cass Brister said Kennedy hasexceptional skills on the mound. “Ryan is a top-notch pitcher andhe has good velocity. He can throw three pitches very well. Everystart by him has been a quality start. I think he will do well atthe next level.”

Kennedy’s fastball has been clocked at 86 miles per hour withthe radar gun. His favorite Major League Baseball player is retiredpitcher and Hall of Famer Nolan Ryan of the Texas Rangers.

“I like (Ryan’s) attitude toward baseball,” said Kennedy. Hisfavorite team is the Chicago White Sox.

The son of Jeff and Teresa Kennedy also excelled as anAll-Lincoln County punter for the Enterprise football team. Heaveraged around 40 yards per punt.

Co-Lin baseball coach Keith Case said he was looking forward tohaving Kennedy with the Wolfpack next season. “Ryan has a lot ofpotential ahead of him. He’s a good-sized left-hander and he canthrow with velocity. As he gets stronger and more mature, he has abright future ahead of him.

He has a chance to be good at the college level.”

Kennedy’s fastball will be complimented by a curve and achangeup. “Ryan has a lot of tools to work with,” said Case. “Hewill work at improving his curveball and changeup.”

Also signed by Coach Case from Lincoln Country were catcher ZachWilliams and infielder Brett Rushing of West Lincoln and infielderBud Britt of Brookhaven.

An out-of-state signee is infielder Gauge Wilkinson of CentralPrivate School, based in Baker, La.
