LS girls slip past Seminary

Brooke Delaughter fanned 10 batters and walked 2 as the hostLoyd Star Lady Hornets shaved Seminary’s Lady Bulldogs 4-3 Tuesdayin 8 innings. Delaughter (16-1-1) also provided the game-winninghit.

Loyd Star (18-1-1, 3-0) remains unbeaten in Division 6-2Aaction.

In the extra inning, Loyd Star’s Emily Smith was placed atsecond base. Calleye Douglas advanced Smith on a sacrifice bunt.Delaughter provided the RBI single.

“We hit the ball pretty well,” said Loyd Star coach JanDelaughter. Natalie Keene collected a single early in the game.

Seminary got a double from Rebecca Dunn. First baseman KarleyCrosby doubled and homered. Toni Purvis singled twice.

Loyd Star is scheduled to play Wesson Thursday at Co-Lin’sfield, starting at 5 p.m., weather permitting.
