Bogue Chitto tops West Lincoln

BOGUE CHITTO – In the final game of the regular season, theBogue Chitto ‘Cats knocked off the West Lincoln Lady Bears 7-1Tuesday night and prepare for the Class 1A state fastpitch softballplayoffs Saturday.

West Lincoln, coached by Andrew Redd, also qualified for theplayoffs. The Lady Bears are 5-12 overall and 4-4 in divisionplay.

Seniors honored last night were Kelli Howard, Blaine Myers,Holly Miller, Amanda Owen and Chris May from Bogue Chitto.

Bogue Chitto (20-4, 8-0) will host West Lowndes, the No. 4 seedout of District 6, in a best-of-three series.

“We played a good game,” said Bogue Chitto head coach ScottLeggett. “We left too many runners on base. But we got key hitswhen we needed them.”

The ‘Cats outhit the Lady Bears 8-4 at the plate. West Lincolncommitted 3 errors to Bogue Chitto’s 1.

Howard was the winning hurler with 2 strikeouts and 4 walks.Shelby Lofton fanned 4 batters, walked 6 and hit one batter in theloss.

Powering the ‘Cats with a double and a single was Owen. Howardsingled twice. Bradi Davis, Darcy Miller, Adrienne Wallace andMyers singled.

West Lincoln were led by Ashley McCaffrey with a double. KeriEasley singled twice. Taylor Crews singled.
