NATCHEZ – As undefeated teams go, the Natchez Cathedral GreenWave just keeps finding ways to win. Monday night was no exceptionas the Green Wave overcame an 8-4 deficit in the bottom of the 7thinning to beat Franklin County 9-8 in 8 innings of work.

“As well as we played Saturday (against North Pike), that’s howbad we played today,” said Cathedral head coach Craig Beesley,whose squad beat North Pike 13-1 over the weekend. “We didn’t showup ready to play. There are so many bad things we did tonight Ican’t think of all of them.”

Beesley’s bunch still found a way to stay perfect. The GreenWave is 15-0 this season and playing some of its best baseballsince winning Class 1A State in 2005.

Franklin County, coached by Brent Calcote, controlled the gamefrom the outset. The Dawgs (10-7) took a 3-0 lead in the firstinning, and an 8-3 advantage after five. FC sophomore MiltonGriffin belted a pair of two-run singles in the first and the fifthto provide support for the Bulldogs.

In the bottom of the seventh, FC allowed five Cathedral runnersto reach base on walks before plating the game-tying run off aCaleb Johnson, two-out single.

Cathedral pitcher Dylan White kept the Bulldogs’ bats silent inthe 8th, before Green Wave junior Hunter Foster finished off theDawgs with an RBI single to score the winning run.

“He’s a real streaky hitter,” said Beesley about Foster.”Hopefully that (game winning hit) will get him going.”

Foster went 1-for-5 in the game. He struck out three timesbefore producing the clutch hit.

FC’s Milton Griffin led all batters with 3 singles for 4 RBIs inthe contest. He also stole two bases.

The Bulldogs play host to South Pike Wednesday beginning at 5p.m., for Senior Day in Bude.
