EHS girls eliminated

ENTERPRISE – The Enterprise-Clarke Lady Bulldogs eliminatedEnterprise-Lincoln from the Class 2A state softball playoffsSaturday in the second round, sweeping the best-of-three series. Inthe opener, the Bulldogs defeated the Lady Yellow Jackets 6-0 andthen won the finale 11-7.
Coach Steve Sasser’s Lady Jackets were seeded No. 3 in Division6-2A and finish 13-10 overall this season.
Bulldogs 6, Jackets 0
Sophomore pitcher Chynna Coghlan (9-6) absorbed the loss.Coghlan gave up 7 hits and 1 earned run, striking out 1 batter andwalking none.
Leading Enterprise-Lincoln was catcher Karla Hux with 2 singles.Shortstop Ashley Greer and leftfielder Sarah Burke singled.
Haley Harper pitched the shutout victory. She allowed 4 hits,walked 4 and fanned 9.
At the plate, Haley Roberts hit an inside-the-park homer for thewinners. Blair Herrington singled twice.
Bulldogs 11, Jackets 7
In the finale, eighth grade pitcher Taylor Nelson (3-4) absorbedthe setback. She gave up 5 hits, fanned 3 and walked 6.
Second baseman Erika Rutland singled twice. Greer tripled andsingled. Catcher Kolbi Lewis, rightfielder Laken Rawls andcenterfielder Kaitlin Moak singled.
Harper pitched the victory.
The Bulldogs were directed by Summer Robinson who hit aninside-the-park homer and a single. Shortstop Haley Brook Smithdoubled. First baseman Chelsey Jones and Herington singled.
The Jackets took leads of 2-0 and 4-2 before the Bulldogsrallied.
“They (Bulldogs) got some keys hits and walks in the fourthinning,” said Coach Sasser. “We hit the ball a lot better thesecond game when we got the jet-lag out of us,” referring to thelong bus ride.
