Edward Hayden

Edward Hayden, 75, a resident of Tickfaw, La., passed awaypeacefully on Saturday, April 11, 2009, in Hammond, La.

Edward was a true avid LSU sports fan and also enjoyed huntingand fishing; but, the most important part of his life was thedevotion and love he gave to his family, which portrayed hisChristian character. Edward worked as an engineer specialist forthe Louisiana Department of Transportation and after retirement, heused his expertise working for numerous construction companiesthroughout the state.

Surviving Edward are his wife, Joann Jones Hayden, of Tickfaw;and his only daughter, Jayelynn Hayden Miceli, of Brookhaven. Hewas blessed with two grandchildren, Andaleigh Bowman and Blake Cainalong with three great-grandchildren, Maleigha, Braylon and Eathan,all of Brookhaven. Surviving siblings are Joan Iverstine, of Kenya,Africa, and Richaleen Rogers and husband, Dudley Rogers, ofTickfaw.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Theresa Smith Haydenand Earl Hayden.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend thefuneral services from the chapel of Brandon G. Thompson FuneralHome west of Hammond on Tuesday, April 14, at 2 p.m. The familyrequests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home chapelon Monday, April 13 from 6 until 9 p.m. and on Tuesday beginning at10 a.m. until the funeral service time. Dr. Rodney Taylor willofficiate the services and interment will follow in Little RiverPentecostal Church Cemetery in Tickfaw.

Mildred Nix Smith

Services for Mildred Nix Smith are 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 14, atOtt and Lee Funeral Home Chapel in Brandon with graveside servicesat 1:30 p.m. in Easthaven Cemetery in Brookhaven.

Visitation is Monday from 5 until 8 p.m. at the funeralhome.

Mrs. Smith died April 10, 2009, in Memphis, Tenn. She was bornin Calhoun County on June 9, 1930.

She grew up in Lincoln County. She was a member of the BrandonGarden Club, the Brandon Order of the Eastern Star, the AirNational Guard NCO Auxiliary and the Brandon Lioness Club. She wasa longtime member of Central Assembly of God in Brandon and alsoattended New Life Church in Brandon.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Louis W. Smith; a son,Daniel Davis; and a brother, Guy H. Nix Jr.

Survivors are her sons, Carroll G. Davis, Wayne Smith, CullenSmith, Jobie Smith, Louis Smith and Matthew Smith; her daughters,Carolyn Davis Randall and Dominic Smith Reeder; a brother, JamesNix, of Meadville; her six grandchildren; her manygreat-grandchildren; and a niece and three nephews.

Ray Earl Wactor

Services for Ray Earl Wactor, of Meadville, are 10:30 a.m.Tuesday, April 14, at Franklin Funeral Home Chapel with burial inMidway Cemetery in Meadville.

Visitation is Monday from 5 until 9 p.m. at the funeralhome.

Mr. Wactor, 83, died April 11, 2009, at his residence. He wasborn in Franklin County on Feb. 17, 1926, to James Wactor andDellie Freeman Wactor.

He was retired from maintenance at International Paper inNatchez. He was a veteran of World War II.

Preceding him in death were his parents; five brothers; and foursisters.

Survivors are his wife, Catherine Myers Wactor, of Meadville; ason, Lenox “Lynn” Wactor, of Meadville; a grandchild; and twogreat-grandchildren.
