Motorcycle rider hurt in accident

A Lincoln County man is at the University of Mississippi MedicalCenter following a motorcycle accident in Brookhaven Mondayafternoon.

UMC officials said Scotty M. Hudson, 38, of 451 Dunn RatliffRoad, is in guarded condition Tuesday after he was airlifted totheir facility Monday evening.

Brookhaven Assistant Police Chief Nolan Jones said the accidentoccurred a little after 4 p.m. at the intersection of NatchezAvenue and Hardy Lane. He said Hudson was traveling east on Natchezwhen a silver Toyota Camry collided with his motorcycle whiletrying to make a lefthand turn onto Hardy Lane.

Hudson was attended to by bystanders until an ambulance arrivedand he could be transported to King’s Daughters Medical Center withreported head trauma and other injuries. He was airlifted to UMCfrom there.

Jones confirmed the driver of the Camry was Jessica Brister, 17,of Hardy Lane. He said she was headed westbound into the afternoonsun.

“The driver stated she didn’t see him,” he said. “Our officerswere unable to get a statement from (Hudson) because of hisinjuries.”
