Wesson nails big win over Bogue Chitto

WESSON — Senior Cody Crestman smashed a home run and a pair ofdoubles Tuesday night to power the Wesson Cobras to a 14-4non-division baseball win over the Bogue Chitto Bobcats in asix-inning contest.

Bogue Chitto (9-6. 9-2) battles Cathedral today to determine andsecond and third place in the Division 8-1A, according to Bobcathead baseball coach Curt Crain. The junior varsity game begins at 5p.m. followed by the varsity at 7.

Both teams advance to the State Baseball Playoffs beginningFriday night in the first round of the best of three series.

Wesson, coached by Hugh Knight, hosts Richton Friday and visitsRichton Saturday for the second or third game (if necessary).

Wesson went up 3-0 lead and Bogue Chitto cut the defict to 1-run, 3-2, in the top of the third inning.

Over the next 3 innings, the Cobras outscored the Bobcats 11-1to secure the win.

Bogue Chitto committed 5 errors to Wesson’s 1.

Wesson catcher Matt S. Smith singled twice. Doubling were ChrisFink and Kyle Cross. Allen Stegall and Sid Cawthorne singled.

Bogue Chitto got a homer and a single from Seth Avants. HunterGinn doubled followed by Colton McClendon with a single.
