Services for Versie Lee “Sonny Boy” McGee, of Sontag, are 11a.m. Monday, May 4, at Pine Grove M.B. Church in Sontag with burialin the church cemetery. Williams Mortuary is in charge ofarrangements.

Visitation is Sunday from 1 until 6 p.m. at the funeral homewith family hour from 5 until 6 p.m.

Mr. McGee, 70, died April 30, 2009, at his residence. He wasborn in Sontag on Feb. 23, 1939, to Herman McGee and Velma SmithMcGee.

He was a retired self-employed dairy farmer. He was a member ofPine Grove M.B. Church, where he served on the trustee board.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his sisters, BlanchieLee Selman and Lorena Green; his brothers, Artell McGee and a twinbrother at birth; his son-in-law, Terry Darnell Banks; hisgreat-uncle, George Crump; and his great-aunt, Lenora Crump.

Survivors are his wife, Maxine Barner McGee, of Sontag; hisdaughters, Veronica McGee, Patricia Banks and Pamela McGee, all ofSontag, and Alice Thompson and husband, Arthur, of Brookhaven; hisson, Elmer Lee Leggett, of Brookhaven; his special son, FredDillon, of Sontag; his sisters, Geneva Bates, of Sontag, and AnnaLee Davis and Beola McGee, of St. Petersburg, Fla.; his brothers,W. H. McGee and wife, Cola, Robert McGee and Eugene McGee, all ofSontag, and Charles McGee and wife, Earnestine, of Wesson; fourgrandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives andfriends.
