Inmate still at large after escaping jail

A Lincoln County Jail inmate was on the loose Thursday morningafter managing to escape from the facility, authorities said.

Lincoln County Chief Deputy Johnny Hall Jr. said officials arestill probing exactly how Kenny Ray Dunn, 18, of 229 Avalon St.,got out of the jail.

“The method of escape is still under investigation,” Hallsaid.

Sheriff Steve Rushing said however Dunn managed to escape, thesituation will be dealt with once the investigation into the matteris complete.

“It is under investigation and will be handled, as soon as weget through looking into it,” Rushing said. “Regardless of how heescaped it will be addressed and handled.”

Officials said Dunn, who is charged with armed robbery andaggravated assault, got loose around 7:30 p.m. Wednesday. He hasbeen in jail before on similar charges but was never convicted,Rushing said.

Hall said Dunn was last seen in Franklin County, where he isbelieved to have family, Thursday around 5 a.m. Officials said,however, that he could be anywhere.

“If you see him, it doesn’t matter where you are, contact yourlocal authorities,” Hall said.

Jail officials said Dunn is a black male, about 5 feet and 11inches tall, with black hair and brown eyes. He could be wearingearrings in both ears.
