Services for Vera Ballard, of Brookhaven, are 11 a.m. Saturday,June 13, at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church in Brookhaven with burial inthe church cemetery.

Visitation is Friday from 5 until 9 p.m. at Brookhaven FuneralHome on Natchez Drive.

Mrs. Ballard, 88, died June 11, 2009, at Silver Cross Home inBrookhaven. She was born in Lincoln County on Dec. 18, 1920, toForrest Smith and Sally Watts Smith.

She was a homemaker. She was a member of Mt. Moriah BaptistChurch. Mrs. Ballard was very active in the church and in missionsthere. She also loved to cook and share her meals with others. Shewas a wonderful seamstress and formerly sewed for the public.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Henry A.Ballard Sr.; three brothers; and an infant sister.

Survivors are a son, Henry Ballard Jr. and wife, Theresa, ofBogue Chitto; her daughters, Wanda Grice and husband, Fletcher, ofBrookhaven, and Joyce Wilson and husband, George, of Bogue Chitto;her six grandchildren, Daniel Ballard, Melissa Davis, LaurieSledge, Todd Lester, Brett Wilson and Hannah Wilson; her sevengreat-grandchildren, Ellie Davis, Anna Davis, Rachel Davis, HavenDavis, Micah Ballard, Ethan Sledge and Owen Sledge; and severalnieces and nephews.
