AL Stars rout Franklin in AAA 9s Subdistrict

GALLMAN – Flexing their muscles on the mound and at the plateTuesday, the Lincoln County American League All-Stars defeatedFranklin County 16-2 in the Dixie Youth Baseball AAA 9-Year-OldSubdistrict Six Tournament at Copiah Academy. They held FranklinCounty hitless in the sweat-soaked, 4-inning contest.

Dylan Winborne was the winning pitcher. He went 2 innings, faced11 batters and held Franklin County to 1 unearned run. He walked 4and fanned 4.

Parker Flowers relieved Winborne in the third inning. In 2frames, Flowers (5 Ks, 3 BB) faced 10 batters, allowing no hits and1 unearned run.

“We got excellent pitching and good standup defense,” saidAmerican League Manager Stan Winborne. “We only committed oneerror. Everybody hit the baseball and we only had 4strikeouts.”

At the plate, the Americans finished with 11 hits. Flowersdoubled and tripled. Tanner Waldrop also doubled and tripled. CadeHodges doubled twice. Marquise Bridges doubled. Johnny Bowman had 2hits. Tucker Lambert, Peyton Smith and Winborne singled.

Franklin County’s Jacob McDaniel (4 Ks, 7 BB) threw 140 pitchesand went the distance as the temperature read 102 degrees at gametime. In 4 innings, he faced 36 batters and allowed 11 hits.

The Americans took a 4-1 lead in the first. They plated 8 runsin the third and led 12-1.

The Americans face Natchez tonight at 8 as thedouble-elimination tournament continues. Natchez beat the LincolnCounty Nationals 14-2 in 4 innings. . Wesson played Copiah Countyin a late game last night.

The Nationals only had 1 hit, a second-inning single by TylerMixon.

Logan Emfinger started on the mound and took the loss. TuckerWatts replaced him in the top of the third.

“Hopefully, we will play better tonight,” said National LeagueManager Lee Zumbro.

The Nationals play Franklin County tonight at 6 in anelimination game.
