Ruth Buchanan Mai

Services for Ruth Buchana Mai, of Flowood, formerly of ChathamHill, Va., are 7 p.m. Thursday, June 25, at Riverwood FamilyFuneral Service with burial at Fresh Pond Crematory in MiddleVillage, N.Y.

Visitation will be Thursday from 6 until 7 p.m. at the funeralhome.

Mrs. Mai, 89, died June 22, 2009. She was born on Feb. 25, 1920,to Edward W. Buchanan and Annie Grace Painter Buchanan.

Mrs. Mai was a school teacher and homemaker. She was a member ofthe Regent of Ansley Lewis DAR Chapter in New York and a member ofthe Order of the Eastern Star. She was a graduate of James MadisonCollege. She was of the Lutheran faith.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, HerbertKarl Mai; her sisters, Mamie Buchanan, Elizabeth Bookhart andRachal Smith; her brother, Edward Buchanan; and a son, Herbert KarlMai Jr.

Survivors include her son, William Painter Mai, of Bogota,Colombia; her daughter, Ruth “Jane” Masholie, of Flowood; her sixgrandchildren, Robert William Mai, Herbert Luis Mai, Donald CharlesMasholie, Amanda Jane Masholie Walker and Herbert Karl Mai; her twogreat-grandchildren, Jonathan Anthony and Patrick Mai; her otherfamily members, Tommy and Carolyn Smith and George R. Walker.

Memorials may be made to Lawrence County Nursing Center FamilyCouncil.

Capt. Michael Turner

Services for Capt. Michael Turner, of Yigo, Guam, are 11 a.m.,Saturday, June 27, at Grateful Ministries International Church inBrookhaven with burial in Hillcrest Cemetery.

Visitation is Friday from noon until 5 p.m. at R.E. TylerFuneral Home with family present from 6 until 7 p.m.

Capt. Turner, 38, died June 17, 2009, in Guam Memorial Hosptial,Yigo, Guam. He was born on July 13, 1970, to Roosevelt Price Jr.and Emma Ruth Johnson Turner, both of Brookhaven.

He was a captain in the U.S. Air Force and stationed inGuam.

He was a 1988 graduate of Brookhaven High School and a 2003graduate of Troy State, in Montgomery, Ala., where he received aBachelor of Science degree in computer science. In 2003 he wascommissioned into the Reserve Officer Training Corp (ROTC) at theUniversity of Alabama. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in1988.

Survivors include his parents; his wife, Dorothy Sanders Turner,of Yigo, Guam; his sons, Jadon S. Turner and Brendon I. Turner,both of Yigo, Guam; his brothers, Christopher Turner, Perry Priceand Anthony Price, all of Brookhaven; his sisters, Walterine TurnerNelson and Demeshia Wilson, both of Brookhaven; and a host of otherbrothers and sisters.

Mary Alice Wilkinson

Services for Mary Alice Wilkinson, of Meadville, are 10 a.m.Saturday, June 27, at Pilgrims Rest Primitive Baptist Church withburial in the church cemetery. Elder Randy Dillon and Elder MickeyMeyers will officiate services. Franklin Funeral Home in Meadvilleis in charge of arrangements.

Visitation is Friday from 6 until 9 p.m. and from 9 until 10a.m. Saturday at the church, located on Highway 93 East inMeadville.

Mrs. Wilkinson, 71, died June 20, 2009, in Franklin County. Shewas born on March 7, 1938, in Cherry Valley, Ark., to WilliePeterson Faulkner and Mary Lucille Barger Faulkner.

Mrs. Wilkinson was a caretaker, a loving wife and mother offour, as well as mother to so many who had lost their own mother.She was a member of Pilgrims Rest Primitive Baptist Church.

She will be greatly missed by all who knew her and she willnever be forgotten.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her in-laws, MarcusClaude and Julia Wilkinson; her sister, Barbara Jean Davis; herbrothers, Harold, Tommy and Mickey Faulkner; and her infantchildren, Robert Lanis Wilkinson Jr. and Elizabeth AnnWilkinson.

Survivors include her husband of 53 years, Lanis Wilkinson, ofMeadville; her sons, Tony Wilkinson and wife, Teresa, of OrangeBeach, Ala., and Terry Wilkinson and wife, Rachelle, of Meadville;her daughters, Robbi Steele and Susie Sanders and husband, Scotty,all of Meadville; her brothers, Billy Faulkner, Neil Faulkner andPaul Faulkner, all of Louisiana; her sisters, Martha Southworth, ofArkansas, Norma Franklin, of Louisiana, and Linda Cook, ofMississippi; her eight grandchildren, Jesse Arnold, Sal Fiorello,Tait Fiorello, Miles Fiorello and Morgan Fiorello, Blake Wilkinsonand Hali Wilkinson and Logan Sanders; and a number of nieces andnephews.

Pallbearers will be Jesse Arnold, Sal Fiorello, Tait Fiorello,Miles Fiorello, Morgan Fiorello, Blake Wilkinson, Larry Davis andRicky Davis.

Howard Price ‘Sonny’ Wilson Jr.

Graveside services for Howard Price “Sonny” Wilson Jr., ofWesson, are 4 p.m. Saturday, June 27, at Friendship M.B. ChurchCemetery.

Visitation is Saturday from 2 until 4 p.m. at R.E. Tyler FuneralHome followed immediately by graveside services at thecemetery.

Mr. Wilson, 73, died June 23, 2009, at King’s Daughters MedicalCenter. He was born in Lincoln County on Dec. 24, 1935, to HowardPrice Wilson Sr. and Walter Mae Johnson Wilson.

He was a retired dairy farmer and a member of Friendship M.B.Church.

Preceding him in death were his parents.

Survivors are his son, Ernest Wilson, of Brookhaven; hisdaughters, Shirley Gordon, of Brookhaven, and Dorothy Young, ofHuntsville, Ala.; his brothers, Woodrow Wilson and Thomas Wilson,both of Brookhaven; his sisters, Sadie Mae Dickey, Virginia Wilson,Walter Ree Wilson, Myrtle Wilson and Loretta Edwards, all ofBrookhaven; 11 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
