McComb holds off Nationals

WESSON – The Lincoln County Nationals made a brave run at theend before falling to McComb 16-13 Thursday night in the DixieYouth AA 7-year-olds North Subdistrict Six Tournament.

In the other games, Copiah clipped Walthall 9-6 and Summiteliminated Wesson 15-14.

In tonight’s games, Brookhaven battles Copiah at 6 p.m.

McComb 16, Nationals 13

The Nationals, coached by Randy Spring, trailed McComb 8-0 after3 innings. The Nationals chipped away at the lead cutting it to 3runs before the final out was made in the sixth inning.

The Nationals were directed by Travis Hall with a grand slamhome run in the fifth and a solo homer in the sixth. GarrisonCoffey doubled and singled 3 times. Brady Spring ripped 2 singlesand a double.

Adding support for the Nationals with 2 singles apiece were JohnBurns, Gatson Walker Carson Rounsaville and Austin Fugler. ColeSmith, Karlton Byrd and Jerid Dunaway hit safely.

McComb got 2 home runs from Ben Myrick. Darren Tobian, JacobySmith and Aaron Artigues smashed 3 singles apiece. Wade Watts,Haynes Tisdale and Brady Johnson doubled. Singling were SamEthridge, Preston Alexander, Mitch Reeves, Braswell Ervis andBrandon Chapman.

Summit 15, Wesson 14

Wesson was led by Parker Allen with a home run and 2 singles.Ripping a double and a single was Hunter King. Gavin Brister, KashDotz and Alexander King drilled 2 singles apiece. Hitting safelywere Warren Kinchen, Jaiden Smith and Braden Taylor.

Wesson committed 15 errors to Summit’s 6.

Cody Roberts singled twice for Summit. Brady Wilson, BrandonRoberts, Parker Travis and Adam Willingham singled.

Copiah 9, Walthall 6

Directing Copiah with a pair of doubles was Torique Beathea.Tucker Jackson singled twice. Singling were Cole Elliott, RyonRamsey, Tristan Dear, J.T. Manney, Bryce Prescott, Hunter Smith andBennett Cliburn.

Walthall got a double from Gage Kennedy. Hitting safely were ReRe Magee, Ken James, Peanut Waites and Brady Warner.
