Services for Frank H. Britt Jr., of Brookhaven, are 10 a.m.Friday, July 3, at Macedonia Baptist Church in Brookhaven withburial in the church cemetery.

Visitation is Thursday from 5 until 9 p.m. at Riverwood FamilyFuneral Service in Brookhaven.

Mr. Britt, 82, died June 29, 2009, at King’s Daughters MedicalCenter in Brookhaven. He was born on May 22, 1927, to Frank H.Britt Sr. and Linnie Williams Britt.

He was a cattle farmer. Mr. Britt served with the U.S. Armyduring World War II. He was a member of Macedonia BaptistChurch.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Frank H. Britt Sr. andLinnie Williams Britt; his wife, Emma Faye W. Britt; a sister,Darcus Prislovsky; and a brother-in-law, Joe Prislovsky.

Survivors are a son, Webb Britt and wife, Janice; a daughter,Sally Ogden and husband, John; his five grandchildren, Heath Britt,Casey Britt, Jody Britt, Sarah Bridge and Adam Ogden; his fivegreat-grandchildren; and his caretakers, Ann Laird and MechellePorter.

Delores Peavy Burris

Services for Delores Peavy Burris, of Monticello, were 10 a.m.Thursday, July 2, at Riverwood Family Funeral Service Chapel inBrookhaven with burial in Pleasant Grove United Methodist ChurchCemetery in Brookhaven.

Mrs. Burris, 85, died June 30, 2009, at King’s Daughters MedicalCenter in Brookhaven. She was born on Feb. 20, 1924, to ArchiePeavy and Courtney Fuller Peavy.

She was a homemaker. She was a member of Pleasant Grove UnitedMethodist Church. Mrs. Burris was also a member of the Order of theEastern Star.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Archie Peavy andCourtney Fuller Peavy; her husband, Nolan Burris; and her sons,Nolan Dee Burris and Bruce Darryl Burris Sr.

Survivors are a son, Kenney Burris and wife, Linda Burris, ofSaint Francisville, La.; and her three grandchildren, Darryl Burrisand wife, April Burris, of Brookhaven, Jesse Burris, of SaintFrancisville, and Mike Nuckles and wife, Susan, of Brookhaven.

Agnes Calcote

Services for Agnes Calcote, of Brookhaven, are 10 a.m. Friday,July 3, at Wilson Funeral Home Chapel in Monticello with burial inShiloh Baptist Church Cemetery in Sontag.

Visitation is Thursday from 5 until 9 p.m. at the funeralhome.

Mrs. Calcote, 77, died June 30, 2009, at Silver Cross Home inBrookhaven. She was born in Mississippi on Aug. 30, 1931, toWilliam Ava Smith and Lessie Lee Hoff.

She was a retired registered nurse. Mrs. Calcote became alicensed practical nurse (LPN) at Copiah-Lincoln Community College.She continued her education by becoming a registered nurse atSouthwest Mississippi Community College and received her bachelor’sdegree in nursing from William Carey College. Mrs. Calcote also wasan LPN instructor at Co-Lin. She was a member of Nola BaptistChurch.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, JulianCalcote; and her brothers, Frankie Joe Kyzar and Ben Kyzar.

Survivors are a son, Johnny Boyte, of Monticello; a daughter,Linda Williams, of Rankin County; her four grandchildren; and herfour great-grandchildren.

Charles Joseph Serio

Services for Charles Joseph Serio, of Brookhaven, are 11 a.m.Friday, July 3, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church inBrookhaven with burial in the Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation is Thursday from 5 until 9 p.m. at Brookhaven FuneralHome on Natchez Drive with rosary at 7 p.m.

Mr. Serio, 85, died July 1, 2009, at his residence. He was bornin Brookhaven on Feb. 9, 1924, to Sam Serio and Frances DamicoSerio.

He was co-owner of Serio’s Grocery Store in Brookhaven and tooksuch pride in the amount of oysters he could shuck. Serio’s is alegacy that began in 1917 and the family ran the business together.However after the deaths of their siblings, Charlie and RosalieSerio supported each other in managing the store. He was a memberof St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. Anyone that knows, has”been knowin'” that Charlie will be missed by all those he touchedwith his loving kindness.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his brothers, Carmelloand Jimmy Serio; and his sisters, Lena, Santa and Josephine.

Survivors are a sister, Rosalie Serio, of Brookhaven; hisnephews, Sammy Serio and Mike Serio and wife, Sue; and a specialfriend, Linda Smith.
