Laura Caroline “Carolyn” Bryant White, 92, loving wife, motherand grandmother, died Wednesday, July 8, 2009, at Silver Cross Homein Brookhaven. Visitation will be from 5 until 9 p.m. Friday, July10, at Mims-Mitchell Funeral Home of Magee and services areSaturday, July 11, 2009, at 11 a.m. at the Mims-Mitchell FuneralHome Chapel with burial to follow at Pine Grove Baptist ChurchCemetery in Magee. Brookhaven Funeral Home is also handlingarrangements.

She was born in Smith County on June 30, 1917.

A devout Christian, she was a former member of Pine GroveBaptist Church of Magee and Van Winkle Baptist Church of Jackson.At the time of her death, she was a member of First Baptist Churchof Hendersonville, Tenn., where she often enjoyed sitting withJohnny Cash. She was always very active in a variety of churchactivities, including serving as a Sunday school teacher. She was aretired clerk from McAlpin Department Store of Magee.

Carolyn was a lady of many talents, including being a giftedseamstress, a talented cook and gardener. Most of all, she lovedpeople.

She enjoyed a wide circle of friends and had a great, lovinginterest in all of her immediate and extended family. She will begreatly missed and will forever be remembered for her loving spiritand gentle smile.

A native of Smith County, she was the daughter of Katie B.Amason Bryant and Robert T. Bryant. She and her husband, JosephVerner White reared their three daughters in Magee. Carolyn wasdevoted to her family, and she is survived by three daughters andtheir husbands, DeVera White Miley and husband, Jim, Olivia WhiteMcNair and husband, Steve, all of Murphreesboro, Tenn., and VernaWhite McFadden and husband, Larry, of Brookhaven.

She is also survived by five grandchildren, Carol McNair Cuffand husband, Jeff, Joey A. McNair and wife, Betsy, Jason A.McFadden and wife, Christie, Jonathan B. Miley and Jenny L.McFadden. In addition, she is survived by six great-grandchildren,Andrew Lucas Cuff, Rachel Leia Cuff, Ava Grace Moreton, AlaynaKatherine McNair, Brittan Blair McFadden and Harley BriannMcFadden. She is also survived by a host of cousins, nieces andnephews.

In addition to her parents; she was preceded in death by herhusband, Joseph Verner White; and three brothers, Ernest VelpoByrant, Daniel Leon Bryant and Clinton Eugene Bryant; and oneinfant sister.

Pallbearers are Victor Bryant, Stanley Bryant, Travis Bryant,Clint Bryant, Tony Bryant and Darren Craft.
