Man charged in armed robberies

A Brookhaven man is in the Lincoln County Jail on charges in thearmed robberies of three individuals earlier this month,authorities said.

Brookhaven Assistant Police Chief Nolan Jones said TimothyHudson, of 219 Wood St., was arrested over the weekend and chargedwith three counts of armed robbery on July 4, 5 and 6. He is beingheld on $50,000 bond.

“During the course of the investigation, we got Timothy Hudsonidentified and an affadavit signed, so we issued a warrant andpicked him up,” Jones said.

Jones said two of the robberies occurred at the same conveniencestore on East Monticello Street. On July 4, a man was allegedlyapproached by the suspect, who displayed a gun and took hiswallet.

“He had very little cash, but the black male took his wallet andran,” Jones said.

The second armed robbery occurred the next day at the sameconvenience store, Jones said. The suspect allegedly approached thevictim’s car and tapped on the window, motioning for him to roll itdown.

“When he did so, the suspect displayed his handgun and asked forhis wallet,” Jones said. “He also got Blackberry phone, and then heran.”

The third robbery began July 6 at the same location, when asuspect approached a juvenile in a vehicle and asked for a ridesomewhere. After they reached his destination, the suspect pulledhis gun on the driver and demanded money.

“All three of them described the same type of weapon,” Jonessaid.

Armed robbery can carry a sentence of anything from three yearsto life in prison.
