Graveside services for Lillian Gail Peebles are 11 a.m.Thursday, July 23, in Chenal Cemetery in Chenal, La.

Visitation is Wednesday from 6 until 9 p.m. at Niland’s FuneralHome in New Roads, La. with rosary at 7 p.m.

The infant died July 20, 2009, at Woman’s Hospital in BatonRouge, La. She was born in Baton Rouge on June 21, 2009, to Richyand Desiree’ Bass Peebles.

Preceding her in death were her maternal grandfather, JamesBass; her paternal grandfather, Bill Peebles; an aunt, Gail PeeblesCase; and her uncles, Danny Peebles and Jim Bass.

Survivors are her parents; her brothers, William and LukePeebles, of New Roads; her sisters, Savannah, Ena and Macy Peebles,all of New Roads; a maternal grandmother, Virginia Bass, of NewRoads; a paternal grandmother, Bradys Peebles, of Brookhaven; andnumerous aunts and uncles.

Mary Evelyn Collins Peek

Services for Mary Evelyn Collins Peek were Tuesday, June 16, atMemorial Oaks Funeral Home in Houston, Texas.

Mrs. Peek died June 12, 2009. She was born in Brookhaven onMarch 31, 1926, to Dr. F.E. and Myrtis Wheeles Collins.

She attended Sophie Newcomb College and graduated from MillsapsCollege where she was a member of the Phi Mu Sorority. After movingto Texas in 1953 with her husband, Emory, she received her master’sdegree in bilingual education and taught school for many years atSutton Elementary. She was a member of the Lady Washington Chapterof the Daughters of the American Revolution, the College Women’sClub and was active in the Methodist church throughout her life.Mrs. Peek was an excellent cook who thoroughly enjoyed entertainingand sharing her many Southern recipes. She also enjoyed spendingtime with her family.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Emory Peek; and abrother, Frank Collins.

Survivors are her sons, Buster Peek and Stanley Peek; adaughter, Anne Peek Todd; her seven grandchildren; a sister-in-law;and a cousin.

Gail Lynn Verseckes

Services for Gail Lynn Verseckes, of Moss Point, will be held ata later date. Riverwood Family Funeral Service is in charge ofarrangements.

Miss Verseckes, 52, died July 20, 2009, at Singing RiverHospital. She was born on May 4, 1953, to Kass Verseckes and LoisE. Hendrickson.

She was of Catholic faith.

Preceding her in death were her father, Kass Verseckes; abrother, Mark Verseckes; and a nephew, Matthew Verseckes.

Survivors are her mother, Lois E. Verseckes, of Pascagoula; herbrothers, Larry K. Verseckes, of Pascagoula, and Mike S. Verseckesand wife, Gay, of Wills Point, Texas; a sister, Lee Courtney andhusband, Robin T. Courtney, of Petal; and also by a number ofnieces, nephews and other family members.
