A Brookhaven man remained in jail Tuesday morning after beingarrested over the weekend in connection with an alleged Saturdayafternoon rape of a 13-year old girl, authorities said.

Brookhaven Police Chief Pap Henderson said Aaron Jones, 24, ofBrookhaven, was arrested and charged with sexual battery afterallegedly assaulting a 13-year old female who lived in a home wherehe was staying on North Jackson Street.

“This was an in-house deal,” he sad. “This person was stayingthere in the same home with her.”

Henderson said the name of the victim is not being releasedbecause she is a juvenile and the victim of a sexual crime. He saidit is unclear at this point what the relationship between Jones andthe victim is.

Jones is being held on $15,000 bond and was arraigned Mondaymorning. Henderson said if he is convicted, Jones will have toregister as a sex offender upon release from prison.
