HAZLEHURST – Quarterback Gabriel Gray threw for three touchdownsand the Hazlehurst Indians whipped Hinds AHS 24-7 Friday night inthe season opener for both schools.

Gray threw a TD pass of 22 yards to Cornelius Crump for a 16-7halftime lead. Crump ran the 2-point conversion. The Indians got a2-point safety late in the first half.

Backup quarterback Tredrick Williams threw 22 yards for splitend Chris Perkins for the game’s first touchdown.

In the third quarter, Gray passed 18 yards to Perkins. DemetriusCain ran the 2-point conversion.

On defense, Gray intercepted a pass. Defensive end DondregoMartin led the Indians with 12 tackles.

Hazlehurst travels to Morton Friday night for its second game ofthe season.
