Edna Mae Sanders ‘Snook’ Owens

Services for Edna Mae Sanders “Snook” Owens, of Brookhaven, are11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 5, at Williams Mortuary Chapel inBrookhaven with burial in Hillcrest Cemetery.
Visitation is Friday from 1 until 5 p.m. at the funeralhome.
Mrs. Owens, 90, died Aug. 30, 2009, at Countrybrook LivingCenter in Brookhaven. She was born in Lincoln County on Sept. 7,1918, to John “Bap” Sanders and Luada McDaniel.
She was disabled. She was a member of St. James M.B. Church.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Willie”Boy” Owens; her brothers, Tom Sanders, Van Sanders, R.J. Sanders,Wilbert Lee “Slick” Sanders, Henery Sanders, Monroe Washington,Versie Washington and Nathaniel Washington; his sisters, Clara”Bonnie” Merchant, Beatrice Butler, Mazie Lee, Rosie Lee Ferdinand,Viola “Mott” Washington, Lula Sanders, Missour Sanders, A.D.Sanders, Estella Sanders, Dora Hooker and Nancy Johnson.
Survivors are a brother, Albert Sanders and wife, Ruthie, ofJackson; a sister, Jewel Lean Dillion, of Compton, Calif.; agodchild, Chivas Fontenelle, of New Britain, Conn.; her devotednieces, Edna Hooks, Jeanette Newton, Barbara Kelly and PatriciaCrossely, all of Brookhaven; an aunt, Mary Ann Boarden, of St.Louis, Mo.; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
