PRENTISS – The Wesson Lady Cobras handed the Prentiss LadyBulldogs an 8-2 loss in Class 2A Region 7 slowpitch softball actionTuesday. The Cobras improved to 8-4 on the season.

Wesson, under first-year head coach Jackie Stowe, hosts regionfoe Bassfield Thursday night for 2 games. The junior varsity beginsat 5 p.m. followed by the varsity at 6.

After the end of 4 innings, Wesson led Prentiss 2-1. In thefinal 3 innings, the Cobras outscored the Bulldogs 6-1 to securethe win.

The winning pitcher was Marley McCardle.

Maddy Rials and Christina Fink ripped 2 singles each for Wesson.Leah Greer tripled. Doubling was Shauntay Walker. Summer Rials,Kimmie Kolpek and Maura Smith singled.

Junior varsity action

Summer Rials smashed a home run and a single to lead Wesson to a10-4 win over Prentiss. The Cobras are 9-0-1 in JV play.

Also homering for the Cobras was Walker. Jessica Delaney andGreer hit safely.

Nicole Smith was the winning hurler.
