Norma Lee McCarthy Monier

Services for Norma Lee McCarthy Monier, of McComb, are 10 a.m.Friday, Sept. 18, at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in McComb withburial in Hollywood Cemetery. Father Brian Kaskie will officiate.Hartman-Sharkey Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation is Thursday from 5 until 7 p.m. at the church withfamily present at 6:30 p.m.

Mrs. Monier, 79, died Sept. 15, 2009, at Southwest MississippiRegional Medical Center in McComb. She was born in McComb on May27, 1930, to James Joseph and Norma Elizabeth Stair McCarthy.

She was a homemaker first, but enjoyed many other jobs that shecalled hobbies. She owned Hobby Suite and was a member of theMississippi Board of Realtors. She was a former member of theBrookhaven Garden Club while residing in Brookhaven and was formermember of MICA. Mrs. Monier was a lady who loved to entertain andloved to travel, especially to her favorite place, the white sandsof Destin, Fla. She showed thoroughbred horses, “Mr. Kelly” forone. She loved her flowers, especially azaleas and African violets.In 1991, Mrs. Monier received the Yard of the Month Award for herbeautiful azaleas. She loved to wonder in the woods and herchildren said she could name every leaf there was. She was a ladywho loved to dress up; loved classical music and was an excellentcook. Almost every Friday night, she and her husband could be seenat Dixie Springs, where they had a special table reservedespecially for them.

Preceding her in death were her parents.

Survivors are her husband, Dr. Philip C. Monier, of McComb; hersons, Philip M. Monier, of Hernando, and Patrick Monier and wife,Pamela, of McComb; a daughter, Elizabeth M. Budz and husband,George, of Biloxi; a brother, James J. McCarthy and wife, Martha,of Gulfport; a sister, Mary Janice Andrews and husband, Paul, ofHuntsville, Texas; her four grandchildren, George Philip Budz, PaulQuintus Budz, Mallory Blair Monier and Philip Sean Monier.

Pallbearers are Patrick Monier, Philip M. Monier, George PhilipBudz, Philip Sean Monier, George Budz and Paul Budz. Honorarypallbearers are Johnny Balser, Tommy Lynch and Alfred Gent.

Glenda Marie Roberts

Services for Glenda Marie Roberts, of Wesson, are 11 a.m.Thursday, Sept. 17, at Riverwood Family Funeral Service Chapel withburial in Bethel Methodist Church Cemetery in Brookhaven.

Visitation is Wednesday from 5 until 9 p.m. and Thursday from 10until 11 a.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Roberts, 65, died Sept. 14, 2009, at her residence. She wasborn on Aug. 21, 1944, to Percy G. Roberts and Lonia TerrellRoberts.

She was a homemaker. She was a member of Bethel MethodistChurch.

Preceding her in death were her father, Percy G. Roberts; hermother, Lonia T. Roberts; and numerous aunts, uncles andgrandparents.

Survivors are her husband, Charles Ray Rippy; a stepson, ChrisRippy and wife, Jennifer; a stepdaughter, Wendy May and husband,Todd; a brother, C.W. Roberts and wife, Glenda; a step-grandchild,Ethan May; a niece, Kandie Roberts; a nephew, Casey Roberts; and agreat-nephew, Carsen Roberts.
