Homer N. Jordan

Services for Homer N. Jordan, of Bethel Road in Brookhaven, areSept. 26, 2009, at 11 a.m. at Riverwood Family Funeral Service inBrookhaven with burial at Mt. Olive Church of Christ Cemetery inLincoln County. Officiating the service will be Bro. WendallDavis.

Visitation will be Friday evening from 5 until 9 p.m. atRiverwood Family Funeral Service.

Mr. Jordan, 73, died Sept. 23, 2009, at the University ofMississippi Medical Center in Jackson. He was born on May 29, 1936,to Chester Jordan Sr. and Lottie Maude Nordan, of LincolnCounty.

He worked for 33 years with Homelite Textron in Brookhaven andretired in May 2001 after nine years of service in the maintenancedepartment at Copiah-Lincoln Community College. He was known allaround Lincoln County for offering a helping hand to those who werein need. He was a longtime member of Mt. Olive Church ofChrist.

Preceding him in death were his parents; a brother, ChesterJordan Jr.; a sister, Louise Williams; and a grandchild, TiffanyElizabeth Hood.

Survivors are his wife of 42 years, Paula H. Jordan, ofBrookhaven; two daughters, Angela Jordan and Carla Jordan Johnson,both of Brookhaven; a brother and sisters-in-law, Jerry and FrancesJordan and Jewell Jordan, all of Brookhaven; other brothers-in-lawand sister-in-law, John and Faye Harper, of Lucedale, and JamesHarper, of Brookhaven; and one special grandchild, Selena CheyenneJohnson, of Brookhaven.

Pallbearers are Danny Ray Boyd, Hubert Ray Greer, DarrylJordan,

Lewis Mazer, Todd McDaniel and Keith Lee.

Honorary pallbearers are Randy Jordan and Terry LaneNations.

Robert W. ‘Dub’ Thomas

Services for Robert W. “Dub” Thomas, of Brookhaven, are 2 p.m.Monday, Sept. 28, at Watkins Memorial AME Church with burial inCarver Heights Cemetery.

Visitation is Sunday from 1 until 7 p.m. at Williams Mortuarywith family present from 6 until 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Thomas, 82, died Sept. 22, 2009, at Country Brook LivingCenter in Brookhaven. He was born in Lincoln County on June 14,1927, to Perry Thomas and Cathleen Sartin Thomas.

He was retired. Mr. Thomas was also an U.S. Army veteran. He wasa member of Watkins Memorial AME Church.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his sisters, Willie MaeTyler, Joy Thomas and Beulah Mae Green; and his brothers, R.Q.Thomas, J.C. Thomas, Edmond Thomas and Jeremiah Thomas.

Survivors are his loving companion, Willie Ruth Banks, ofBrookhaven; his sons, Douglas Banks and wife, Faye, of Brookhaven,and Herman Banks, of Lansing, Mich.; his daughters, Ann Banks,Charlene Banks, Linda Banks, all of Brookhaven, and Rhonda Thomas,of Hammond, La.; a sister, Carrie Mae Jones, of Chicago, Ill.; his10 grandchildren; his six great-grandchildren; his three specialnieces, Katheleen Crump, Katrina Burns and Anquanette Pryor, all ofBrookhaven; and a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives andfriends.
