Services for the Rev. Edward S.T. Hale, of Brookhaven, are noonFriday, Oct. 2, at the Episcopal Church of the Redeemer inBrookhaven with burial in Riverwood Memorial Park. Riverwood FamilyFuneral Service is in charge of arrangements.
Visitation is Friday from 10 until 11:30 a.m. for friends andfamily at the church in the Parish Hall and Cannon Hall.
The Rev. Hale, 88, died Sept. 29, 2009, at his residence. He wasborn on Oct. 24, 1921, to the Rev. Charles Stuart Hale and RebeccaVirginia Shores Hale.
He was a practicing Episcopal priest for more than 50 years,predominantly in the Episcopal Diocese of Mississippi. He was thegrandson, son and brother of Episcopal priests. He was a member ofthe Episcopal Church of the Redeemer in Brookhaven. He served inthe U.S. Army during World War II. The Rev. Hale also founded theBrookhaven Humane Society. He harmed no one and helped many. “Andcould I have one wish this year, this only would it be. I’d like tobe the sort of friend that you have been to me.”
Preceding him in death were his parents, Charles and RebeccaHale; a brother, Charles S. Hale Jr.; and a sister, Virginia HaleMarsh.
Survivors are his wife of 61 years, Mickey D. Hale; a son,Edward Michael Hale and wife, Michele, of Ocean Springs; adaughter, Tracy Hale Bell and husband, Steve, of Madison; abrother, The Rev. George B.S. Hale, of Raleigh, N.C.; his fourgrandchildren, Jennifer Counts, William Bell, Mary Elizabeth Belland Haven Hale; and his three great-grandchildren, Kiegan Marek,Reece Counts and Harbour Lyons.
