Bears can’t catch BC’s Kersee

BOGUE CHITTO – Bobcat senior running back Byron Kersee scoredfour rushing touchdowns and caught a TD pass for another Fridaynight as Bogue Chitto shut out the West Lincoln Bears 35-0 inRegion 4-1A football action.

Kersee rushed the football 18 times for 217 yards to power theBobcat running game.

“We played a good game,” said Bogue Chitto head coach GarethSartin. “Our defense did a good job shutting down West Lincoln’srunning game. Our offense took care of the ball by pounding theball and grinding down the clock.

“Now we must get ready for Sebastopol this week.”

The Bobcats improved to 2-0 in the region and 3-3 on the season.The Bears fell to 2-4 and 1-2 in region play.

“Bogue Chitto just whipped our butts,” said West Lincoln headcoach Chris Calcote. “We did not have the intensity we needed toplay. We need to regroup and get ready for Natchez Cathedral thisweek.”

At the 3:27 mark, Kersee scored his first touchdown of the gameon a 6-yard run. Garrett Wallace kicked his first of 5 PAT’s togive Bogue Chitto a 7-0 lead in the first quarter.

In second-quarter action, Kersee scored his second TD on another6-yard run and then caught an 87-yard pass from quarterback JavierGee for his third of the night. That score pushed the Bobcat leadto 21-0 at the half.

Kersee recorded his fourth TD in the third quarter on a 70-yardburst at the 11:40 mark to take a 28-0 lead over West Lincoln.

In the fourth quarter, Kersee scored a 13-yard touchdown runwith 10:21 left in the game to push the Bobcats’ lead to 35-0.

Contributing to the Bogue Chitto win with 50 yards on 8 carrieswas Carl Green.

West Lincoln was directed by Tray Moore with 8 carries for 48yards. Calvin Kees rushed 9 times for 35 yards followed by DeonMoore with 26 yards on 9 carries.

Defensively, Kevin Brothern and Colton McClendon directed theBobcats with 7 tackles apiece. Six stops were made by Tevin Tobiasas the Bobcats held West Lincoln to just 82 yards totaloffense.

The Bears were sparked on defense by Garrett Rushing with 20tackles. Moore finished with 9 tackles.
