Services for Mildred M. Turnbo, of Wesson, are 1 p.m. Tuesday,Oct. 6, at Brookhaven Funeral Home on Natchez Drive with burial inZion Hill Baptist Church Cemetery in Copiah County.

Visitation is Monday from 3 until 9 p.m. at the funeralhome.

Mrs. Turnbo, 88, died Oct. 1, 2009, at Southwest MississippiRegional Medical Center in McComb. She was born in Hazlehurst onSept. 23, 1921, to Elliot McCardle and Janie Izzard McCardle.

She was a homemaker and loved gardening especially growingroses. She formerly worked at the Potter Co. and was a member ofSardis Baptist Church. She was one of the last survivors of theRosie The Riveters of World War II.

Preceding her in death were her parents and her husband, WillTurnbo.

Survivors are her two sons, Sonny Smith and wife, Karen JoSmith, of Thompson’s Station, Tenn., and William Turnbo, of Wesson;two daughters, Elaine Hollier, of Anchorage, Alaska, and LynnTurnbo Holliday and her husband, Ira “Doc” Holliday, of Florence; asister, Dot Smith, of Brandon; 11 grandchildren, Samantha SmithBrooks, Lance Smith, Brett Smith, Brandi Smith Hirsch, Jay Smith,Michele Faison, Shannon Hollier, Kira Turnbo, William Turnbo, JohnHolliday and James Holliday; 10 great-grandchildren, Sarah Hollier,Dakota Faison, Mason Smith, Gaven Smith, Tristan Hirsch, LaurenBrooks, Zane Brooks, Cody Holliday, Tyler Holliday and LoganHolliday; and one great-great-grandchildren, Devon HollierDalluhn.

Pallbearers will be Lance Smith, Brett Smith, Jay Smith, JohnHolliday, James Holliday and William Turnbo.
