Services for Virginia Vaughn “Gina” Burgess, of Brookhaven, are11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 5, at Friendship Baptist Church in Brookhavenwith burial in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Burgess, 84, died Sept. 30, 2009, at her residence. She wasborn in Lincoln County on Sept. 15, 1925, to Thomas William”Tunney” Vaughn and Maggie Hall Vaughn.

She was a retired office manager from Hinds General Hospital.She was a member of Friendship Baptist Church and the GoldenOldies.

Preceding her in death were her parents; a son, Lane Burgess;her three brothers, Ingram Vaughn, Layton Vaughn and Carroll Smith;and her two sisters, Josie Smith and Jessie Godwin.

Survivors are a son, Ken Burgess and wife, Millicent, ofHouston, Texas; a sister-in-law, Pauline Vaughn; her fivegrandchildren, Kent Burgess, Kim Burgess Bessonette, BrandiBurgess, Dylan Burgess and Kristen Burgess; her fivegreat-grandchildren, Gabriel, Stone, Katelyn, Paxton and Jackson;and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to give a special thanks to HospiceMinistries, her close friends, neighbors and caregivers.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice Ministriesor to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
