Nancy Bland ‘Sissy’ Granger

Services for Nancy Bland “Sissy” Granger, of Crosby, are 2 p.m.Saturday, Oct. 10, at the Homochitto Baptist Association buildingin Gloster with burial in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Gloster.Marshall Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Granger, 43, died Oct. 1, 2009, at her residence. She wasborn in Natchez on Jan. 26, 1966, to Moses and Lucy Mae Bland.

Preceding her in death were her parents; a son, Roger Bland; anda brother, Kenneth Bland.

Survivors are her husband, Ricky Granger; her daughters, KatrinaBland, Tomeka Bland and Lawana Bland; a son, Gerald Bland; hereight grandchildren; a goddaughter; and a host of nieces, nephews,other relatives and friends.

Michael H. O’Neal

A private memorial service for Michael H. O’Neal, of Brookhaven,will be held by his family at a later date. Community FuneralServices is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. O’Neal, 51, died Oct. 2, 2009, at King’s Daughters MedicalCenter in Brookhaven. He was born in Houston, Texas, on Aug. 25,1958, to Willie Lee O’Neal and Lois Burns O’Neal.

Survivors are his wife, Bonnie O’Neal, of Bogue Chitto; a son,Chris O’Neal, of Bogue Chitto; a brother, David O’Neal, of Texas;and a grandchild.

Edward Thompson Jr.

Services for Edward Thompson Jr., of Brookhaven, are 3 p.m.Friday, Oct. 9, at Community Funeral Services Chapel in Brookhavenwith burial in the Nation’s Cemetery.

Visitation is Thursday from 5 until 8 p.m. at the funeralhome.

Mr. Thompson, 79, died Oct. 7, 2009, at his residence. He wasborn in Mississippi on Sept. 29, 1930, to Edward Thompson Sr. andLouie Sue Richey.

He retired from Diviney Maintenance.

Preceding him in death were his parents; a son, Randy Thompson;a daughter, Linda Sue Posey; his three brothers; and his twosisters.

Survivors are a son, Rickey Thompson; his daughters, Rita Acy,Sharon Knight, Nancy Thompson and Rose White; a sister, NettiePosey; his 14 grandchildren; and his 12 great-grandchildren.

The Rev. John Veal

Services for the Rev. John Veal, of Crosby, are noon Saturday,Oct. 10, at First Baptist Church of Gloster with burial in ClaytonCemetery. Marshall Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation is Saturday from 10 a.m. until noon at thechurch.

The Rev. Veal, 93, died Sept. 28, 2009, at Field MemorialCommunity Hospital in Centreville. He was born in New Roads, La.,on Sept. 4, 1916, to John Veal Sr. and Joanna Bell Veal.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Hazel Veal; adaughter, Hazel Nelson; a son, Preston Veal; and a niece, JoannaFields.

Survivors are his children, Willie H. Veal, Florence Bateaste,Shelly A. Hall, all of Gloster, John L. Veal, of Meadville, SalinaMason, Patricia Rogers and Nora Rowe, all of Baton Rouge, La.; hisstepchildren, Pastor David Franklin, of Baker, La., Alma Ray andthe Rev. Rosetta Scott, both of Baton Rouge; a niece; and a host ofgrandchildren, great-grandchildren, other relatives andfriends.
