Services for Wickie Wallace Alexander, of Jayess, are 2 p.m.Friday, Oct. 16, at Powell’s Grove United Pentecostal Church inJayess with burial in Topeka Cemetery. The Revs. Ronnie Tuner,Ratcliff and Ray Bowling will officiate. Hartman-Sharkey FuneralHome in McComb is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation is Thursday from 5 p.m. until 2 p.m. Friday at thechurch.

Mrs. Alexander, 87, died Oct. 13, 2009, at McComb Nursing andRehabilitation Center in McComb. She was born in Lawrence County onAug. 19, 1922, to Laney and Lizzie Creel Wallace.

She was a longtime member of Powell’s Grove United PentecostalChurch. She was also former owner and operator of the 27 Drive Innin Lawrence County and was best known for her cooking. Mrs.Alexander was also a former employee of the Kellwood Co. inMonticello.

Preceding her in death were her parents; a son, Leon Alexander;her brothers, Emory, Lonnie and Prentiss Wallace; her sisters, AlmaRials, Charlene Dunaway, Earlene Reid, Wilma Holmes and Hazel Boyd;and a granddaughter, Misty Dawn Alexander.

Survivors are her husband of 70 years, Clarence Alexander, ofJayess; a son, Aaron “A.C.” Alexander and wife, Ann, of Jayess; adaughter, Elaine Davis and husband, Ray, of Ruth; a brother, KimbleWallace and wife, Virgie, of Monticello; a daughter-in-law, KayGivens Alexander, of Monticello; her nine grandchildren and theirspouses, Duane and Kathy Alexander, Mechelle Burnette, of Jayess,Darla and Keith Boyd, Hujuan Davis, Carla and Mike Murphy and Apriland Jason Mullins, all of Ruth, Carmen and Randall Adams, of BogueChitto, Lane Alexander and Leona Alexander, of Monticello; her 11great-grandchildren, Brently Pevey and wife, Ashley, KaylaBurnette, Tonya Alexander, Erin Alexander, Atlana Adams, CodyDavis, Christopher Murphy, Austin Murphy, Trae Pigott, Jaylee Beardand Laney Beard; her three great-great-grandchildren, Ashton Hulin,James Pevey and Saige Pevey; and the wonderful and compassionatestaff of McComb Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and HospiceCompassus; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers are Wayne Reid, Larry Reid, Billy Joe Alexander,Gerald Alexander, Therl Alexander and Keith Boyd.

Honorary pallbearers are her grandsons.
