Due to the threat of rain Friday, the Region 6-2A game betweenthe Enterprise Fighting Yellow Jackets and the host Madison St.Joseph Bruins will be played tonight. The game begins an hourearlier at 6 p.m.

In Lincoln County games Friday night, Brookhaven hosts McComb,Loyd Star visits Hinds AHS, Bogue Chitto invades Salem, and WestLincoln entertains Vicksburg St. Aloysius for homecoming.

Enterprise (3-6, 0-4) is coming off a tough 48-16 district lossat the hands of Loyd Star. Madison St. Joe (3-6) fell to Wesson33-17 last week.

Enterprise head football coach Wayne Rogers talked about movingthe game up a day and Madison St. Joe’s football team.

“We want to beat the rain,” explained Rogers. “St. Joe headcoach Flip Godfrey wanted to move the game up to beat the rain thatis supposed to come in Thursday and continue through Friday.”

Rogers said the Bruins are lot like the Jackets and haven’t hadmany breaks fall their way.

“We need to get a district win,” stated Rogers. “St. Joe are alot like we are size wise. We have a little bit more speed. Theyhaven’t won a district game.

“We can’t afford to give up the big plays,” added Rogers. “Thekids did a good job rushing the football last week against LoydStar.”

In the loss to Loyd Star, Enterprise quarterback Cody Bristerrushed the football 17 times for 104 yards. Aaron Prather rushed 17times for 50 yards and scored a touchdown. Following with 9 carriesfor 108 yards was Garrett Greer.

Brister was 4 of 11 for 45 yards including a 22-yard touchdownpass to Greer.

The Jacket defense were powered by Travis Leggett with 12tackles, 2 fumble recoveries and a sack. Josh Nations finished with8 stops.

Last year, St. Joe nipped Enterprise 20-19.

Loyd Star (8-1, 3-1) travels to Utica to face Region 6-2A rivalHinds AHS. Last Friday, Puckett took down Hinds AHS 39-0.

Loyd Star head football coach Ryan Ross said Hinds has gottenback some key players he did not have when they played Wesson,including last year’s Region 6-2A Most Valuable Player DariusNewton.

“Darius Newton is back,” said Ross. “He played against Puckettlast week. Hinds drove up and down the field on Puckett butcouldn’t punch it in. They are going to snap it to a great guy,kind of like the Notre Dame box. They use their power and speed.They have their top guys back.

“I took it easier on the kids this week to let the old injuriesheal now that we are in the playoffs,” continued Ross. “We areworking on more mental preparation. If we win and Puckett win, wecould go in second. We are playing to win and host a first roundgame. We are glad to be there and be as healthy as we can bethere.”

Leading the Hornets over the Jackets last week was Marquis Simswith 12 carries for 96 yards and a touchdown. Rushing 7 times for156 yards and a touchdown was Tradareous Wilson who also returned akickoff 83 yards for another TD.

Hornet quarterback Joseph Shelby completed 5 of 10 passes for107 yards. Fred Clark caught 2 passes for 47 yards, including aTD.

The Loyd Star defense was led by David Fields and T.J. Floydwith 13 stops apiece. Travis Sorrels followed with 10 tackles.

In last year’s contest, Loyd Star clipped Hinds AHS 37-35.

Bogue Chitto (3-6, 2-3) is coming off a tough 34-24 Region 4-1Aloss at the hands of Natchez Cathedral. Coached by Gareth Sartin,the Bobcats prepare for road trip to Salem to meet the Wildcats foranother district test.

In the loss to Cathedral, Bogue Chitto was powered on offense byByron Kersee with 21 rushes for 122 yards and 2 touchdowns. JavierGee carried 14 times for 31 yards. Rushing 9 times for 24 yards anda pair of TDs was James Blackwell.

On defense, Bogue Chitto was led by Shawn Wallace and Kerseewith 8 tackles apiece.

West Lincoln (2-7) prepares to celebrate homecoming Friday nightwith the Vicksburg St. Aloysius Flashes in another Region 4-1Atest. Coach Chris Calcote’s Bears fell to Sebastopol 46-0 lastweek.

St. Aloysius (5-4) fell to Mt. Olive 40-13 last week.

“St. Al is a good football team,” said Calcote. “They lost theirtop running back. Bogue Chitto and Dexter have beat them.”

“Their quarterback throws the ball real well. They will be achallenge for us. If you can’t get up for homecoming, you can’t getup for it.”

In the loss to Sebastopol, West Lincoln was led by Josh Renowith 6 carries for 31 yards. Deon Moore had 10 carries for 25yards.

Bear quarterback De Price completed 1 of 3 passes for 3 yards.Casey Lofton made the reception.

Defensively, Marcus Lee led West Lincoln with 9 tackles. Pricefollowed with 8 stops.

West Lincoln starting offensive linemen Grant Rushing and AustinBozeman both suffered knee injuries in the loss at Salem.Linebacker Garrett Rushing (concussion) and running back CalvinKees (knee) also missed the Sebastopol game.
