Services for Sallie Ann Shannon, of Brookhaven, are 1 p.m.Monday, Nov. 30, at St. Paul M.B. Church with burial in HillcrestCemetery. Williams Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Visitation is Sunday from 1 until 6 p.m. at the funeralhome.
Ms. Shannon, 82, died Nov. 25, 2009, at Haven Hall Health CareCenter. She was born in Copiah County on Oct. 19, 1927, to CharlieShannon and Edna Davis Shannon.
She was a 1947 graduate of Alexander High School and receivedher A.A. degree from Tougaloo College. She retired from BrookhavenPublic Schools after 28 years of service. She also worked forHeadstart of Mississippi for a number of years. She was a member ofthe Homemakers Club of Brookhaven. She was also a member of St.Paul M.B. Church, where she was a Sunday school teacher, presidentof the women’s ministry and a member of the finance committee.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her foster parents,John and Fannie Davis; and her brother, Charlie Lee Shannon.
Survivors are her sisters, Angie Bingham, of Chicago, Ill., andDorothy Lee, of Jackson; her nieces, Jerr Bingham, of Chicago,Cheryl Lee and Kathy Marshall, both of Jackson, and Clara Lee, ofMitchellville, Mich.; and many cousins and friends.
