Webb under goes heart surgery

WESSON – Wesson girls head basketball coach Hugh Webb wasscheduled to under went quadruple bypass heart surgery today at St.Dominic’s Hospital in Jackson. Webb is in his fourth season as theLady Cobras head coach.

According to Wesson boys coach Ron Kessler, Webb was scheduledfor a cauterization procedure Wednesday morning. The doctors foundmore blockage and put in two stints. The doctors discovered moreblockage and it was decided that the surgery needed to be performedas quickly as possible.

Webb will be recuperating for 5-6 weeks. He may return as soonas mid-February depending on his recovery. During Webb’s absence,Kessler and girls assistant coach Rusty Magee will take overcoaching the girls team.

Wesson principal Ronald Greer said they are praying for Webb.”We have him in our prayers. We hope everything goes well. It issomething that has to be tended to. We feel he will be back with usshortly.

“We have Ron and Coach Magee taking care of the girls. We willdo the best we can. We will keep him in our prayers and know theLord is working things out for him.”

Webb’s Lady Cobras were Division 6-2A champs last season andadvanced to the South State semifinals. They finished the seasonwith a 26-7 record.

The 2009-10 Lady Cobras are 8-3 on the season.
