William E. ‘Willie’ Brownell

Services for William E. “Willie” Brownell, of Summit, are 10a.m. Saturday, Dec. 12, at Hartman-Sharkey Funeral Home Chapel inMcComb with burial in Magnolia Cemetery. The Rev. Dr. DavidMillican will officiate.

Visitation is Friday from 5 until 8 p.m. and Saturday from 9until 10 a.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Brownell, 64, died Dec. 10, 2009, at his residence followinga lengthy battle with cancer. He was born in Winnsboro, La., onApril 19, 1945, to Jesse Randolph “Randy” Brownell and Eura LeeTaylor Brownell.

He was a drilling superintendent for Hercules Drilling. Mr.Brownell was also an avid collector of Coca-Cola memorabilia. Hisfamily said Mr. Brownell was a devoted husband, father, grandfatherand brother, who loved spending time with his family and especiallyhis grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his parents; a daughter, ToshaCooper, and his sisters, Louise McKey, Sue Anderson and BettyQuin.

Survivors are his wife of 29 years, Annie White Brownell, ofSummit; his daughters, Jennifer Brownell Young, of Summit, WandaKay Comeaux and husband, Donald, of Maurice, La., Brandi Brownell,of Plaquemine, La., and Glenda Cooper Harris and husband, Wade, ofSummit; his brothers, Carl Brownell and wife, Joyce, of Lancaster,S.C., Raymond Brownell and wife, Brenda, of La Habra, Calif., andRandy Brownell and wife, Cindy, of Summit; a sister, ShirleePhillips, of Frisco, Texas; his seven grandchildren, Abbey Young,Lexey Young, Taylor Forrest, Madison Smith, Chloe Smith, RobertPhelps and Donald Comeaux; a great-grandchild, Gillian Newman; andhis special friends, Hester Smith, Joe Rutland and Susie Reid; andnumerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers are Joe Rutland, Charlie Anderson, Billy Young,Brent Barron, Bubba Anderson and Artie Brownell.

James Edward ‘Ed’ Crosby

Services for James Edward “Ed” Crosby, of Brookhaven, are 10a.m. Saturday, Dec. 12, at Riverwood Family Funeral Service Chapelin Brookhaven with burial in Cold Springs Church of Christ Cemeteryin Bogue Chitto.

Visitation is Friday from 5 until 7 p.m. at the funeralhome.

Mr. Crosby, 71, died Dec. 10, 2009, at his residence. He wasborn on July 22, 1938, to Burton Eldridge Crosby and Mildred”Billie” Aldridge Crosby.

He was a retired machinist for Letourneau. He also served in theArmy National Guard. He was a member of Cold Springs Church ofChrist. Mr. Crosby loved gardening and riding his tractor. Heparticipated in the Brookhaven Farmer’s Market and thoroughlyenjoyed visiting with old and new friends. He was an avid fishermanand enjoyed hunting. His recent fishing trips with his nephew MitchFoster and brother-in-law Leonard Foster were the highlights ofmany days.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Burton Eldridge Crosbyand Mildred “Billie” Aldridge Crosby; his brothers, David Crosby,Buddy Crosby, Wilmer Crosby and Pat Crosby; and a sister, SusieWaltman.

Survivors are his wife, Violet Allen Crosby; a son, DavidMitchell Crosby, of Portland, Maine; his daughters, Debra RenaeSmith, of Brookhaven, and Susan Crosby Nichols and husband, Al, ofMendenhall; his brothers, Mike Crosby, of Bogue Chitto, and CarrollCrosby, of Natchez; and his four grandchildren, Christopher JamesSylvestri, of Monroe, La., Rebecca Sylvestri Gillen and husband,Dain, of Baker, La., Mason Landon Smith, of Brookhaven, and JudsonNoal Smith, of Huntsville, Texas.

Miss Leonard, 58, died Dec. 1, 2009, at the University ofMississippi Medical Center in Jackson following a brief illness.She was born in Franklin County on Aug. 29, 1951, to Dorsey CameronSr. and Oris W. Cameron.

She was a former employee of Kellwood Co. working there for 20years.

Preceding her in death were her parents; his sisters, Ada LeeBarnes and Velma Louise Cameron; and a brother-in-law, WilmerQuinn.
