BA crushes Copiah

Brookhaven Academy shook off the rusty from the Christmas breakand whipped Copiah Academy’s Colonels 65-33 Monday night in the BAHoliday Classic. The Cougars were directed by Jake Reed’s 17points. Brock Smith netted 14 points and Christian Keene added 13in the blowout.

The Cougars (10-4) advance to tonight’ssemifinals in John R. Gray Gymnasium, meeting Simpson CountyAcademy at 7:15. Simpson edged Parklane Academy 59-58yesterday.

In the other semifinals boys game, Hillcrest plays Bowling Greenat 5:15 today. Hillcrest beat Natchez Trinity 63-57 and BowlingGreen knocked off Eat Rankin 65-49 yesterday.

In other boys games, Parklane beat Ben’s Ford 65-41 and Trinityedged Oak Forest 62-59.

Copiah plays Ben’s Ford at 12:15 today and Oak Forest meets EastRankin 2:45.

“Our running game was good tonight,” said BA boys coach DaleWatts. “We need these games to come together as a team. Ourshooting was a little rusty at times.”

The Cougars got 7 rebounds and 5 steals from Reed. Keene grabbed7 rebounds and Jamison Powell had 6, plus 3 assists.

Copiah was led by Reece Hankins with 10 points. The Colonelstrailed 42-17 at halftime.

Bowling Green 65, E. Rankin 49

Jaron Edwards sacked 25 points for the Buccaneers. East Rankinwas led by Dylan Cross who netted 12 points.

Simpson 59, Parklane 58

Will Ashley’s 23 points paced Simpson past Parklane. ThePioneers got 22 points from Parker Moore.

Parklane 65, Ben’s Ford 41

Chet Wilson’s 11 points led the Pioneers to victory. MicahSimmons had a game-high 18 points for Ben’s Ford.

Trinity 62, Oak Forest 59

Brandon Daggins had 21 points fro Trinity. Oak Forest was led byDrew Misita’s 19 points.

Hillcrest 63, Trinity 47

Hillcrest’s Austin Hartzog tossed in 18 points for the Cougars.Trinity was led by R.J. Fleming’s 18 points.
