Margarette M. Etheridge

Services for Margarette M. Etheridge, of McComb, are 11 a.m.Thursday, Dec. 31, at Jones Family Funeral Services Chapel inMcComb with burial in Hollywood Cemetery in McComb. Pastor WoodyRimes and the Rev. Ed Stewart will officiate.

Visitation is Wednesday from 5 until 8 p.m. and Thursday from 10until 11 a.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Etheridge, 88, died Dec. 29, 2009, at McComb Nursing andRehabilitation Center in McComb. She was born in Franklin County onSept. 3, 1921, to H.W. and Eula Cotton McCall.

She was a homemaker. She was a member of the Church of God and afirm believer in Jesus Christ. As long as she was able, she enjoyedfishing, gardening, birds, quilting, crocheting and cooking. Herfamily was very important to her.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, J.R.Etheridge; a son and daughter-in-law, Roger and Margie Etheridge;her brothers, Milton and Sidney McCall; and a great-grandson,Zachary Bryan.

Survivors are her sons, Bobby Q. Etheridge, of McComb, and JerryEtheridge and wife, Carolyn, of Brookhaven; a brother, Billy McCalland wife, Florence, of McComb; a sister, Vanetta Duncan andhusband, J.L., of Summit; a former daughter-in-law, Priscilla Burt,of McComb; her nine grandchildren, Janet and K.C. Moore, JulieEtheridge, Brandi and Michael Wilson, Molly Etheridge, WayneEtheridge, Lisa Brown, Angela and Kelly Honea, Louis Etheridge andJ. Etheridge; and her 16 great-grandchildren; and her sixstep-great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

Pallbearers are K.C. Moore, Scott Mixon, Garland McGhee, E.J.Bryan, William Etheridge and Micah Moore.

Honorary pallbearer is John Duhon.

Gladys Lorraine Johnson

Services for Gladys Lorraine Johnson, of Brookhaven, are 2 p.m.Thursday, Dec. 31, at Riverwood Family Funeral Service Chapel inBrookhaven with burial in Heuck’s Retreat Baptist Church Cemeteryin Brookhaven.

Visitation is Wednesday from 5 until 9 p.m. at the funeralhome.

Mrs. Johnson, 63, died Dec. 29, 2009, at Pine Crest Guest Homein Hazlehurst. She was born on May 22, 1946, to James L. White andNora Bell Blades White.

She was a nurse. She was a member of Easthaven BaptistChurch.

Preceding her in death were her parents, James L. White and NoraBell Blades White; her husband, John Kelly Johnson; and a brother,Cecil White.

Survivors are a son, Paul Johnson; her daughters, Lisa Brown andTina King; her brothers, Jamie White, Melvin White, Harvey White,Ollie White, Kenny “Doc” White, Stevie White and Robert White; asister, Mary White; her seven grandchildren, Cody, Kelby and KellyBrown, Matthew, Christine and Nicholas King and Kristofer Johnson;and her four great-grandchildren.

Maude Smith

Services for Maude Smith, of Brookhaven, are 3 p.m. Wednesday,Dec. 30, at Riverwood Family Funeral Service Chapel in Brookhavenwith burial in Riverwood Memorial Park in Brookhaven.

Visitation is Wednesday from 1 until 3 p.m. at the funeralhome.

Mrs. Smith, 92, died Dec. 29, 2009, at King’s Daughters MedicalCenter in Brookhaven. She was born on May 23, 1917, to James ArthurSmith and Arcola Johnston Smith.

She was a homemaker. She was a member of First Baptist Church inBrookhaven.

Preceding her in death were her parents, James Arthur Smith andArcola Johnston Smith; her husband, Earl Smith; a brother, Hugh V.Smith; and her sisters, Martell Byrd and Velma Britt.

Survivors are her daughters, Patricia Henning and husband, Les,and Sylvia Phillips and husband, Jim, all of Brookhaven; hersisters, Para Lee Smith, Laverne Lea, Evelyn Smith and KatherineSmart and Johnnie Jackson; her sisters-in-law, Vallie Mae Smith,Yvonne Case and Bernice Smith; her six grandchildren, Kathy Crane,Paul Henning, Jeff Henning, Lori Phillips, Richard Phillips andChristy Ketchum; her 11 great-grandchildren, Taylor, Leslie andShelbie Crane, Jordan, Jessie Claire, Judson and Jaynie Henning,Mardie and Micah Henning, Ashli Walker and Pierce Ketchum.

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church Building Fund,Hospice Ministries or a charity of choice.
